Privacy Policy
Last Updated: November 25, 2025
Plant Diary ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use our mobile application.
Information Collection and Use
Plant Diary does not collect, transmit, or share any personal information or user data with third parties or external servers.
All data generated through your use of the app is stored locally on your device and remains fully under your control.
Permissions Required
Photo Permission
The app requests access to the camera solely to allow you to take photos of your plants.
Photos taken with the camera are saved to the app’s private storage directory.
Storage Permission
Storage access is required to read photos from your gallery and save plant images.
When selecting a gallery photo, the app creates a private copy to ensure availability even if the original is deleted.
All images are stored exclusively in the app’s private directory and are not accessible by other apps.
Storage access occurs only when you add or view photos.
Local Data Storage
Plant Diary uses a local database (Hive) to store all plant-related information directly on your device. This data is never transmitted to servers or third-party services.
Stored data includes:
Plant names, species, and custom notes
Watering schedules and frequency settings
Care history (watering dates, logs, journal entries)
Health ratings and statistics
File paths to photos stored privately
App preferences (theme, notifications)
Data Processing
All data processing occurs entirely on your device.
The app performs calculations for watering schedules, statistics, and care trends locally.
No analytics, tracking, or telemetry data is collected or transmitted.
No Third-Party Services
Plant Diary does not integrate with any third-party services such as analytics tools, ad networks, cloud storage, or social platforms.
We do not use cookies, tracking pixels, or any external monitoring technologies.
The app works fully offline and does not require an internet connection.
Data Retention and Deletion
All data remains on your device until you choose to delete it.
You have complete control:
Delete individual plant entries
Removing a plant also removes associated photos, logs, and journal entries
Use the “Delete All Data” option to erase everything
Uninstalling the app permanently deletes all stored data automatically
Children’s Privacy
Plant Diary does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13.
The app contains no accounts, no social features, and no data-collection mechanisms.
It is suitable for all ages and contains no external links or restricted content.
Data Security
Because all data remains offline and stored locally, its security depends on your device’s protections. We recommend:
Enabling device encryption
Keeping your device OS updated
Avoiding unauthorized device access
Notifications
The app may send local notifications for watering reminders.
These are generated entirely on your device and involve no external servers.
You may disable notifications anytime through your device settings.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in features or legal requirements. Any updates will be shown in the “Last Updated” date above.
We will not reduce your privacy rights without your explicit consent.
Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
Your Rights
You always maintain full control over your data:
Access: View all information within the app
Modify: Edit or update any entry
Delete: Remove individual items or all data
