Privacy Policy for Pixel Mood

1. Introduction
Welcome to Pixel Mood! This Privacy Policy describes how Pixel Mood ("the App," "we," "us," or "our") handles your information when you use our mobile application. Our core commitment is to your privacy. Pixel Mood is designed as a simple, private mood tracker where all your data is stored exclusively on your own device. We do not collect, transmit, or store your personal mood data on any external servers.
2. Information We Collect (And Store Locally)
Pixel Mood collects and stores the following information only on your device's local storage:
Mood Entries: The specific mood emoji you select for each day, along with the date and time of the entry.
Optional Notes: Any text notes you choose to add to a specific day's mood entry.
Optional Activity Tags: Any predefined activity icons/tags you choose to associate with a specific day's mood entry.
App Settings: User preferences, such as the daily reminder setting (if enabled) and time.
We, the developers of Pixel Mood, do NOT collect, access, transmit, or store any of the above personal information on our servers or any third-party servers. Your journal is yours alone.
3. How We Use Your Information (Locally)
The information stored locally on your device is used solely to provide the App's functionality to you:
To display your logged moods, notes, and tags on the calendar view.
To allow you to review past entries.
To generate simple, on-device trends and insights based on your logged data (e.g., mood frequency charts, basic correlations between moods and tagged activities).
To enable the optional daily reminder notification if you choose to activate it.
To facilitate the local export and import of your data at your explicit request.
4. How We Store and Secure Your Information
Local Storage: All data described in Section 2 is stored using standard, secure Android internal storage mechanisms (such as a local database like Room) directly on your device.
No Transmission: Your personal mood data, notes, and tags are never transmitted off your device by the App. No internet connection is required for the core functionality of logging and viewing your moods.
Device Security: The security of your locally stored data depends on the overall security measures you employ on your own device (e.g., screen lock, device encryption).
No Cloud Backup: Pixel Mood does not automatically back up your data to any cloud service. You can use the manual Export feature (see Section 7) to create your own backups.
5. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not share, sell, rent, or otherwise disclose your personal data stored within Pixel Mood with any third parties. Because all data is stored locally and not collected by us, there is no data for us to share.
6. Permissions
Pixel Mood may request the following permissions, only when necessary for specific features:
Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS or similar, depending on Android version): This permission is required only if you choose to enable the optional daily reminder feature. If you do not enable reminders, this permission will not be requested or used.
Storage Access (Scoped Storage / Storage Access Framework): This permission may be requested only when you actively choose to use the "Export Data" or "Import Data" feature. This allows you to select a location on your device to save your exported file or to select a previously exported file to import. The App does not access your storage for any other purpose.
7. Your Data Rights and Control
Because your data is stored locally, you have significant control:
Access: You can access all your logged data directly within the App's calendar and entry views.
Modification/Deletion: You can typically modify or delete individual entries within the app (if functionality allows). Uninstalling the App will permanently delete all its associated data from your device (unless you have separately exported it).
Portability (Export): You can use the "Export Data" feature within the App's settings to save a copy of your entire mood log to a file (e.g., CSV or JSON) in a location you choose on your device.
Import: You can use the "Import Data" feature to restore data from a previously exported file.
8. Children's Privacy
Pixel Mood is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or the relevant age of consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided us with information (which would only be possible if they used the app and stored data locally), please contact us immediately at the email address below so we can assist. As we do not collect data centrally, deletion primarily involves uninstalling the app from the child's device.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the App and updating the "Effective Date" at the top. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Privacy Policy.
