In 2023, The U.S. Surgeon General released an advisory, "Our Epidemic of Loneliness and Isolation." Advising the public on a new health concern called loneliness. With women representing only 15% of the engineering workforce, we are no strangers to loneliness in our field. Together we will learn about the detrimental effects of loneliness and how to combat it through community building.

About Jillian McGuckin
Jillian McGuckin is an associate project engineer at Emerson Automation Solutions who works in Thermal Power Projects. She was a first-generation college student who obtained a degree in mechanical engineering at The University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. She believes in the importance of uplifting women and creating a safe space for all in engineering. In her free time, she runs, reads, and volunteers with the Pittsburgh Prison Book Project.
