Event Cast:
Kesha Rose Sebert - Herself
Episode
Kesha's life has never been simple or easy. She was born to her mother Pebe Sebert on March 1st way back in 1987... yikes she's old! Her mother immediately knew she was a star ever since she was young. "Who the fuck names their child Kesha unless they think their child will become famous?" Pebe says, knitting herself a giant penis-shaped hat as we talk to her. Pebe continues, "I would've been setting that poor girl up for failure!" ending her sentence with a powerful giggle. Kesha's mother is a songwriter, who has worked with many iconic musicians in the past, including the incredible Dolly Parton. Kesha and her mom have written multiple songs together, including their top 10 collaboration "Killer" from Kesha's 2022 album R. Pebe has always supported her daughter, even through questionable decisions. When it comes to Kesha's father, she is in the dark as to who he is. She grew up not knowing who her father was. Kesha actually believed that she was conceived by an alien who probed her mom until she was about 17 years old. Kesha has always been numbed by the absence of her father, not really knowing how to feel. The fight to get through the pain of it has been a long one, but she never surrendered. On the other hand, she has also never felt a sense of lacking anything, telling us that her mom "has more than enough personality for a whole city, so imagine having more than just her as family!" As a thank you for allowing us to create this documentary, we did some research to hunt down some of her possible fathers. We found out that back in the 80s Pebe had actually had multiple sexual intercourse experiences with Phillip McGraw, more commonly known today as "Dr. Phil" and his show of the same name. When we asked McGraw about the encounters, he described them as "very pleasurable. Incredibly unique woman too. The most interesting experiences I've ever had with anyone." The other suspected fathers declined the opportunity to be featured in this documentary. As Kesha grew up, she continued to question other aspects of her life. Soon, this led to a deep interest in music and art. Her interest in music gave her an outlet to talk about the impact of not knowing her father's identity, as well as all of her other struggles in life. When she was four years old, her mother moved the family to Nashville. That is where she was raised, alongside her older brother. When asked about her brother, Kesha responded “Oh shit, I forgot about him! Yeah he’s chill.” Kesha attended two high schools as a teenager, Franklin High School and Brentwood High School. She has stated many times that she never fit in, as her unique personality didn’t tend to draw anyone in. Despite this, she was incredibly intelligent. Kesha scored a near-perfect score on the SAT. While in high school, her interest in music led her to join the marching band. She was actually quite good and obviously maintained her grades to achieve the incredible SAT score. She was accepted into Barnard College, which is a private women-only college for liberal arts. The college is actually an affiliate of Columbia College, which is an Ivy League school. Kesha eventually dropped-out after only three months, primarily to focus on her music career.
That music career will be discussed in detail, starting in episode 2 of #PISSLIFE.
