Question: Will there be a way for me to switch to face to face classes for San Jac?
Answer: No. San Jac will not be offering any face-to-face classes this semester. All college classes will be online. Once PISD is allowed to meet face-to-face, we will have opportunities for students to come to ECHS for tutoring opportunities.
Question: Do we get a choice of Online on a Schedule or Online Anytime?
Answer: No. SJC course format and times were decided on by the SJC departments and professors. We do not get a choice.
Question: When will I get my schedule and how many classes will I have?
Answer: San Jac courses are in SOS. Students can log in to view their courses. Make sure you select Fall 2020 as the semester. PISD class schedules will be available in Skyward. We will work with students during AVID the first week of school to locate their schedules and plan out their weekly schedule.
Question: Can I move my San Jac classes to different times or different professors?
Answer: No. The Dual Credit Office does not take these types of schedule requests.
Question: How can I get help since my classes are online?
Answer: San Jacinto College and PISD ECHS will provide virtual tutoring. Information on how to schedule tutoring sessions will be provided.
Question: Will the classes we take during the Fall semester affect my GPA?
Answers: Yes. These classes will count towards your PISD and SJC GPA.
Question: Do we have to be available 5 days a week?
Answer: Yes. You will need to be available Monday - Thursday 7:00-2:45 and Friday 7:00-11:30. Most San Jac courses are Online on a Schedule, and students must follow the instructions from the professor regarding logging into the course.
Question: Is there a supply list available?
Answer: There is no standard supply list. We suggest students have traditional supplies such as pencils, pens, paper, spiral, highlighter, etc. Some professors might require additional items. Students should also have access to a planner. This can be electronic or paper. More information regarding planners will be discussed in AVID.
Question: When and how will textbooks be passed out?
Answer: We will contact students when we are ready to distribute textbooks.
Question: Are we turning in our tablets?
Answer: No. You will keep your tablet and use it during the fall semester. If your device is not working, please go to this site for more information. https://sites.google.com/pasadenaisd.org/pasadena-isd-distance-learning/student-technology-help-desk
Question: I cannot attend the drive through on August 13th. Will there be another time I can pick up items.
Answer: We will address this question after the event on the 13th and contact students who do not attend.
