On the vast Selkie Steppes a little critter roams, bipedal with big long whiskers. Meet the Little Prince Foxphin, a descendant of the Sniffaloos! More specifically the semi-bipedal mountainous group, eventually adapting into a theropod like shape. The entire Suaromimid clade has been succesful on Gaia and Northern Aletia, becoming the dominant predatorsin those continents. One of the reasons of thier success was their reasonably high intelligence, hunting in coordinated packs to take down prey.
However foxphins are a solitary family in the Sauromimid clade, often being alone or in pairs. Often filling the niches of small carnivores of earth, from foxes to badgers to even secretary birds. This specific foxphin fills a niche similar to the red fox, stalking and ambushing prey among the grasses. When close enough to it's target, it lunges out and bite down on the head. Feeding away at it's victorious kill, full and ready to start the tail. Gripping it's prey down with it's powerful limbs, using thier raptor like giant claw to dig in to flesh. One odd adaptation of this particalur foxphin is their sharp tail tip, made of keratin and hooked as well. It's often used as a defense against rivals and predators while digging.
This species does not form mating pairs, instead the mother takes care of her young alone. Yet this bond is special. Often the juvenile stays with their mother until they are past 5 years old, even when they can take care of themselves ar 2 ywars old. If a juvenile's mother ever dies, it must seek out a surrogate or it will die of grief. Though either way they die, either from predators or growing up wrong. However if a mother who lost their child abd an orphan meet, there's a high change the grieving mother will adopt the orphan.
Now it's name is rather odd, how exactly is this species a little prince? Well it was a species title that came from one, a unique individual was the reason. Though it wasn't special at first glance, it was just every other foxphin. However a being from another wolrd appeared, without fur but on the head. Notebook in hand while wearing garments, the individual foxphin interacted with them. At first distant and slightly hostile, however overtime warming up. To the explorer this bond with this strange being was special, they could tell who this foxphin was out of millions. They were each other's, special and unique. Reminding them of a little piece of media long ago, the foxphin was crowned "Little Prince".
Though this indivudal has passsed away for some time, their name lives on as the specie's title. A species of unique little critters, all were Little Princes.
