The Moss-towers reigned over the lands especially in the north areas, driving the local anubia trees down to near extinction. However one little straggler survived, in the heart of Shelterea's interior desert. The little interior shrubs are the very last of the anubia trees. Like a prince of a lost kingdom coming home to reclaim the throne, these little shrubs will reclaim their ancestors kingdom.
At first they were restricted, but the tides changed as the planet moved closer to the sun. Warming the world and overheating various moss-towers, expanding the range of dry grasslands. However sea-levels rose thanks to melting ice caps, the massive floods cut off Shelterea and expanded the Aletian Seaway. The warm waters allowed for algae to thrive, with some bryozoans forming symbiotic relationships with them. Slowly but surely becoming massive reefs, giving shelter to various organisms. With high productivity the amount of CO2 they expel continued warming the world.
As the ice caps melted, they flooded the steppes and cutting off the Selkie steppes from Shelterea. Without very hungry grazers chewing down on anything, the little shrubs expanded and grew. Growing slowly to tall sizes, shading out the grasses leaving more exposed ground. These towering trees moved up north, masters of preserving nutrients and water. Covering massive areas of Shelterea with forests of these new trees, known as the arrow-leaf tree. Spreading and speciating away into diversity, reclaiming what was once theirs from invaders.
The massive forests gave shade for various fauna from the closer sun. Various smaller clades and species found new niches to take advantage with. Aboreal predatory centaurs to colorful soarers were present in these forests. Millions of species fled to the forests, becoming centers of biodiversity. Sadly as these trees spread, their tough and pointy leaves were irritant to most moss-tower herbivores. Allowing them to spread all across Gaia, slowly choking out the moss-towers due to their spores catching onto leaves. The once mighty green towers fell, with only the Juliun Isles as their last stronghold.
Wide warm oceans bountiful of life, algae and krill like copepods. Some of them evolving a symbiosis and becoming the most common plankton. Giants from all walks of life grow, evolving to take hold of this resource. Bryozoans growing on the rise, making massive reefs to catch the new phytozooaplankton. Giving shelters to mass varieties of fish.
However from afar, strange metal creatures come to inspect. While intelligence is on the rise, with many groups already reaching a sparrow to parrot intelligence. One though have seen to reach it, the ability to wonder.
~85-95 Million Years~
