Famous Pirates

If you have ever had an interest in pirates (or if you haven't), you have probably heard of Blackbeard the pirate. Since many pirates never wrote about themselves and adopted different names during their days on the sea, we still aren't entirely sure what Blackbeard's real name was. Though according to some records during that time period, people know him as Blackbeard or Edward Teach (though some spellings include Thatch, Thack, Thatche, and Theach). -NCpedia

Did you know Black beard's famous ship was a French ship named La Concorde, but once he captured it, he renamed it to Queen Anne's Revenge?

Pirates have had such a big impact on our culture, thought to be symbols of complete freedom, rebellion, and adventure, that people still enjoy pirate stories, movies and the like. You might recognize Captain Jack Sparrow from the popular movies Pirates of the Caribbean!
