Currently at the University of Georgia pursuing a PhD in the Entomology program.
I received my BA at the New College of Florida with a major in Botany and a minor in Chemistry
My desire to study insects actually stems from my interest/background in plants. I've loved plants since I was 14 years old, steadily growing a collection of them. I soon became 'the plant girl' in my hometown in Alabama, acquiring all sorts of plants and tidbits of knowledge from my community. I knew I needed to pursue higher education to learn more about them, and got a BA in Botany. It was during my undergraduate education that I fell in love with insects. I was fascinated with the imperceivable signals that plants send out to get pollinated. I wanted to understand the mystery that is their communication, and to do that I needed to understand what the insects perceive. I can't wait to see where my PhD journey leads me at UGA!
