Hi there! My name's Piper. I am charismatic, reliable, excellent at juggling multiple tasks and I excel under pressure. I’m a creative person who has a real passion for working with others. I love being active, helping people succeed and facing a good challenge. I am a skilled worker with over five years of experience engaging closely with customers, including a background serving and collaborating with the deaf and disabled community.
August 2017 - March 2018; July 2019 - present
I worked on the shop floor at a pet food retail store, with extensive experience serving customers, using a POS system, cash handling and studying animal nutrition & behaviour in depth. Discover more about this company here.
October 2018 - January 2019
This position involved preparing and packaging online orders, collecting products and assisting customers on the shop floor with enquiries. I was awarded top performer in my division twice within my first week of the role.
July 2019
I spent time assisting and working alongside audiologists at Bay Audiology. I experienced how to administer a hearing test, the different types of hearing aids and their uses, as well as how to engage with seniors and people with speech disabilities.
January 2019 - Present
I regularly volunteer as kitchen/wait staff for the Auckland Deaf Society. This role involves waitressing, food preparation and table management, as well as using NZSL. To find out more about the Auckland Deaf Society, click here.
January 2018
I spent several days exploring different advertising roles at FCB, including copywriting, social media management, sound design & editing, art directing and many more. It taught me more about the field and how advertising agencies (as well as business at large) operate.
February 2015 - October 2018
Responsibilities included shelving books, magazines and other materials, cataloging new arrivals, managing the front desk and interacting with visitors. I was awarded a certificate for perfect attendance in 2016 and 2017, and I was assigned head librarian in 2018, leading a team of over 40 other students and speaking in front of over 2,500 people.
February 2019 - Present
I volunteer at the Deaf Wellbeing Society’s activity classes for deaf people every two weeks. This requires me to be patient, friendly and approachable, as well as being able to sign in New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL). This role has taught me a lot about how to be accommodating to those of different abilities and ages. Find out more about this charity organisation here!

January 2018 - December 2018
After 4 years of working hard within my high-school's philosophy organisation, I was elected as leader in my final year. I pride myself in my ability to help a diverse group see eye-to-eye and to get along with others, even if we don't share similar beliefs.
January 2018 - December 2018
I was selected as one of 5 cultural prefects in 2018. Duties involved increasing student morale, supervising and organising detentions; arranging, conducting and choreographing choirs and working closely with both students and teachers.
January 2018 - December 2018
I coached my high school's Rock'n'Roll dance troop, leading my fellow students to excel in a skill all of them had never tried before.
January 2018 - December 2018
I was the head of my high-school's Rainbow Youth Club, a group for LGBTQ+ students to interact and feel safe in. Duties included organising fundraisers for LGBTQ+ charities, leading group discussions and ensuring the space was inviting and warm.
April 2019
For New Zealand Sign Language Week, I initiated a collaboration with the Howick Youth Council to create a series of videos centered around New Zealand Sign Language education. See the full series here!
