This course will introduce you to some major questions in the philosophy of science. What is science? How do we distinguish science from pseudoscience? In what ways does evidence support conclusions? What is scientific explanation? What makes an explanation illuminating? Does science make progress? If so, how? Is science objective, or is it political? What makes it one or the other? Can we reduce some disciplines (like psychology) to others (like physics)?
