Kevin began his coaching career at 15 as a developmental coach. After high school, he transitioned to coaching in the NVSL, spending two years with Springboard before dedicating seven years to Riverside Gardens, where his teams won four division championships. Now in his eleventh season with Pinecrest, Kevin has led the team to victory in 3 out of the last 4 division championships, helping the team advance from Division 7 to Division 4.
In addition to coaching at Pinecrest, Kevin is a high school PE teacher at South Lakes High School in Reston, VA, where he also coaches the swim team. He is a youth and adult triathlon coach for Endorphin Fitness. Kevin holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Physical Education from George Mason University (2011) and a Master’s Degree in Sports Management (2015).

Ashlyn Diederich returns for her third season as Assistant Coach for Pinecrest. With over 15 years of competitive swimming experience, Ashlyn has competed with prestigious clubs such as Potomac Marlins, Machine Aquatics, and NVSL teams including Fox Mill Estates and Pinecrest. Throughout her swimming career, she has earned numerous accolades, including participation in NVSL Divisionals, Relay Carnival, Relay All-Stars, and Individual All-Stars. Additionally, Ashlyn holds records at both Fox Mill Estates and Pinecrest.
A member of the South Lakes High School swim team, Ashlyn contributed to the team's success at the district, regional, and state levels, and also competed in sectionals for Machine Aquatics. She began her coaching journey at the age of 13 as a "coach in training" for Fox Mill Estates and has continued to develop her coaching career, taking on roles since 2018. In June 2021, Ashlyn joined Pinecrest as both a swimmer and as a summer and winter technique coach.
Ashlyn graduated with honors from South Lakes High School in June 2023 and completed her second-year student at the University of Mary Washington Honors College this year. She is pursuing a degree in Business Administration with a minor in Law and Philosophy and earned a spot on the President's List both in the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters. Ashlyn is an active member of Business Honor Societies and is on the Leadership council for Women in Business at the university. Ashlyn will graduate a year early and use her senior year to pursue her MBA. She also competes on the University of Mary Washington Varsity Women's Swim Team, which participates in the NJAC Conference.

Caden is excited to be back for his 14th year with the Pinecrest Piranhas! He competed in year-round swimming for 10 years with Machine Aquatics and the Herndon Aquatic Club. During his time as a piranha, he swam in NVSL Divisionals, Relay Carnival, All Stars, and All Star Relays a number of times. Additionally, he swam for Gonzaga College High School in which his team won numerous championship titles over the years. Caden’s most memorable moment in high school swimming was shaving his head for team spirit, and he was elected to be the team captain during his senior year.
Caden just finished up his freshman year at the University of Florida, where he studies data science. Looking forward to this summer, he can not wait to see all of the swimmers again, and he will continue to offer private lessons. Caden is very excited for the upcoming season, and he is ready to bring the energy to Division 4!

Evan has been a member of the Pinecrest Swim Team for 11 years and is excited to return to the coaching staff. He is currently a senior at South Lakes High School, where he is an IB Diploma student and a member of the varsity swim team, serving as team captain this year. Evan earned a spot on the Athletic Honor Roll and swims for the Machine Winter Swim Club. This fall, he will be attending the University of Virginia as a Jefferson Scholar.
Evan has been a Polar Piranha coach for the past three years, gaining valuable experience and making lasting memories. Among his top Pinecrest experiences are coaching the Peewees during the 2022 season, serving as a technique coach in 2023 and 2024, and participating in the Pep Rallies. He looks forward to reconnecting with swimmers from both the winter and summer programs and continuing private lessons this summer.

Graci is excited to be back for her third year as a coach at Pinecrest! This will be her 13th and final year as a Piranha. Graci has been an active participant on the team for a while, and her favorite aspect is the spirit! Graci has received multiple spirit awards [for both swim and dive] throughout the years, along with the Snoopy Award and Dive Team Coach’s Award. Although Graci does not swim year-round, she is still an active athlete. Next fall, she will be attending Sewanee: University of the South where she will be playing Division 3 field hockey!
Over the winter, Graci worked as a Polar Piranhas coach and was able to better get to know the swimmers, new and returning alike. Graci is open to giving one-on-one swim lessons this summer, for both team and non- team members. She is enthusiastic for the new season and another summer of pep rallies, cheers, and of course, swimming!

Maya Nelson has been a swimmer with Pinecrest since she was 6 and is looking forward to continuing her work on the coaching staff. She currently swims for the Potomac Marlins as her club team. Maya is a rising junior at South Lakes High School where she is a part of the swim and softball teams. In her freshman and sophomore year, she qualified for her highschool’s district and regional swim teams. Maya has swam in many NVSL meets including Divisionals, Relay Carnival, All-Star Relays, and Individual All-Stars. She has also earned the High-Point award numerous times.
This will be Maya's second year coaching at Pinecrest, with three years prior experience with Pee Wee's. She is excited for the opportunity to get to work with everyone and can’t wait for the season to start!

Charles Gibson is joining the Pinecrest coaching staff for his first season as a Junior Coach. A Piranha since age 6, Charles has been a regular A Meet swimmer, multiple-time divisional qualifier, and member of the 2024 All-Star Relay team. He swims year-round with YORK Swim Club and has also trained with Goldfish and the YMCA Water Wolves. At South Lakes High School, he’s a two-year varsity swimmer and district qualifier.
Charles has coached the Polar Piranhas for three seasons, earning both the Spirit Award and Coach’s Awards from Head Coach Mallon. He is also the head sparring instructor at Life Champ Martial Arts, where he’s been teaching Taekwondo for five years and is a favorite among students. Charles is a proud member of Civil Air Patrol and brings strong leadership, energy, and team spirit to every practice.

Ken White is excited to be joining the Pinecrest Piranhas for his third year as technique coach and his seventh season as a swimmer. He holds the team record in the 50 breaststroke and has qualified for NVSL All-Stars the last three seasons. A rising senior at South Lakes High School, Ken holds the school records in the 100 breaststroke and 200 Individual Medley (IM). At the Virginia High School Championship in 2025, Ken was an A finalist in two individual strokes, earning an All-American consideration time in the 200 IM.
Ken trains year-round with Nation’s Capital Swim Club and has qualifying times for the U.S. Winter Junior Nationals, NCSAs, Futures, and Sectionals meets.
Ken loves the sport of swimming and is committed to helping young swimmers reach their full potential. He’s excited to offer individual lessons and support Pinecrest’s next generation of All-Stars!

This upcoming season marks Elijah’s third year with the Piranhas and his first as a Peewee swim coach. With a passion for helping other swimmers build confidence, technique, and a love for the sport, Elijah is excited to dive into this new role. He looks forward to supporting each swimmer’s progress and continuing the strong, spirited tradition of the Piranhas.
Outside of summer swim, Elijah has swam year-round on the Reston Water Wolves since he was 10, and now, as a rising senior, he competes on the South Lakes Swim Team and has qualified for and competed in the district, region, and state meets twice. Elijah is very grateful for this opportunity to coach and is looking forward to helping all swimmers improve and enjoy their season.
Isla Eckhardt has been swimming on the Pinecrest swim team since she was 8 years old. She has received several high point awards over the years and has been awarded the Coach's choice award. Isla is a rising Junior at South Lakes High School and has swam on their swim team for the past two seasons. Isla has worked with Peewees for the past 3 summers and looks forward to this season as an official Peewee coach.
