There are four tables to choose between with Super Pinball Action, each of which was represented by one lady (well, three tables do. The fourth has two women). The tables themselves were fairly standard pinball layouts, but if you completed certain objectives on the table, your reward would be a lady in an increasing state of undress. By 1991 standards, the art was very decent, so the reward was of a significantly higher caliber than many of the other pervy strip games that proved to be so incredibly popular in those glorious old days of the 90s.

Pinball Action is one of the early video pinball arcade cabinets. The game starts on the initial table and three other tables with different themes can be accesed from there by fulfilling certain objectives. The goal is to get the highest score. A special button is dedicated to shaking the pinball table.

The critical error with all of these tables is that they're mostly reorientations of the same few ingredients (drop targets, jet bumpers, spinners, holes) which makes me wonder why virtual pinball always plays it safe in terms of the features and shots that are put in the game. There are no extra flippers, ramps, captive balls, multiball, or moving parts that enable different shots. Why? Pokemon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire took advantage of the digital platform by making obstacles that would be impossible on a physical table, and also incorporated a variety of shots. Granted, that game came out nearly twenty years after Pinball Action, but I see no reason why a video game in 1985 is lacking basic features that most physical tables in 1985 had (seriously, NO RAMPS??)

The sound on the other hand is completely unremarkable. I'm not sure this game even has music - if it does, it's completely forgettable, as are the sound effects. None of the loud and exciting sounds from a real pinball table will be found here.

As with any pinball table, this is worth several plays to figure out what the rules are for scoring bonuses and jackpots. Sadly, lack of interesting features mean that once these rules are known, the game will become pretty stale, even with the developers having the real estate of four tables instead of one.

Pinball Action features three separate pinball areas in addition to the starting area. Each of the additional 'faces' has a challenge which, when completed, allows a player access to a special three extra credits. The three faces feature challenges modelled on ten-pin bowling, poker, and slot machines.

You freaky Frogger fans, you. Your insatiable appetite for more Frogger is to blame for this. Konami has unleashed its Facebook take on the iconic gaming franchise, Frogger Pinball, on iOS devices. Dubbed simply Frogger Frenzy, fans of the famous green gaming icon can take their pinball on the go and enjoy a few new additions to the strange tribute to all things Frogger.

The iOS version of Frogger Pinball Frenzy introduces some new, unique stages, special play modes and Facebook Connect support for those that want to compete with their social network buddies. In a release, Konami touts 3D, HD graphics and realistic physics across three tables: Swamp, City and Space Station.

Probably the most interesting feature for Frogger fans is that when players unlock an achievement or power-up on their iOS device or Facebook, it will show up on the other platform through Facebook Connect. Well, that and the fact that the game is free--that helps.

Pinball's pretty simple, right? Left flipper, right flipper, ritual magic and demons crawling all over the table. Playing Demon's Tilt is a mesmerising exercise in filtering order out of chaos and trying to parse what exactly is going on across its single (but large) three-tiered table. Entering early access today and developed by Adam "Wiznwar" Ferrando, it's a loving, maximalist tribute to Naxat's mostly forgotten Crush series of pinball games which started back in the 80s. There's swarms of bullets, huge combo multipliers and demons all over the place, and a trailer lurking below.

Reminding me a little of Sonic Spinball, nudging the table is key. The gauge in the bottom-right shows you how far you are from tripping the tilt sensor, but it drains quickly and every nudge gives your ball a generous boost in that direction. Even when everything on the table feels like it's descended into bedlam (especially once you get a multi-ball going), it's something you can rely on, and probably for the best - you've only got three balls. I feel I've still got a lot to learn, too, as I'm sitting outside the top fifty on the scoreboard and the top players have scores ten times mine.

The current early access release is a functionally complete game, but the developer hopes to add more bosses, systems and unlockable goodies over the course of the year. The game will be in early access until the third quarter of 2019, so there's plenty of time for tweaking and tuning. While it's a bit of a hard sell, being just one table when every other pinball game has what feels like dozens now, I can see myself sinking a bit of time into this one, slowly clawing my way up the scoreboard.
