PROJECT TIMELINE
NOVEMBER 2024:
Call For Essays announced.
The ESSAY PROPOSAL FORM invites authors to contribute one or more of the following:
an abstract proposal (up to 300 words) for an autoethnographic essay on "What brought you to pilgrimage (or pilgrimage studies)? What 'called' you to pilgrimage?" After reviewing the abstracts, the editors will select and invite authors to submit the full autoethnographic essay.
participate in interviews/dialogues about your essay (#1)
an abstract proposal (up to 300 words) for theme-based chapter essays on pilgrimage phenomenology including themes expressed in the interviews/dialogues (#2).
DECEMBER 15, 2024:
Closing date for submitting the ESSAY PROPOSAL FORM.
BY JANUARY 2, 2025:
Invitations to submit autoethnographic "entrée into pilgrimage (and/or pilgrimage studies)" essays are sent to contributing authors. [typically 800 - 2,500 words; up to 7,000 words including follow-up interviews/dialogues]
The finalized book proposal will be submitted to the publisher (TBA).
Style sheet and formatting details will be included in the invitation to authors.
JANUARY 10 - FEBRUARY 15, 2025:
Peer reviews and revisions of autoethnographic essays are completed.
JANUARY 15 - MARCH 31, 2025:
Authors are invited to participate in interviews and dialogues on emerging themes in the autoethnographic pilgrimage essays. These conversations [estimated 50 minutes] will be recorded, transcribed, and edited for inclusion in the Pilgrimage Phenomenology Interviews and Dialogues.
The transcripts will be edited and organized into topical/thematic book chapters. The editors will select and invite authors to contribute theme-based chapters (up to 9,000 words) based on this abstract for theme-based chapters and the emergent themes from the interviews/dialogues.
