PILE helps you choose something to play from the games you already own. It is built so that there is almost nothing to collect, and this policy describes what the app actually does.
THERE IS NO ACCOUNT
PILE never asks for an email address, a password, a name, or a sign-in of any kind. There is nothing to log into and no profile of you anywhere.
YOUR PILE STAYS ON YOUR PHONE
The games you add, the notes you write, what you have finished and every setting you choose are stored only on your device. They are not uploaded, backed up to us, or readable by us. Uninstalling the app, or using Me > Delete everything, removes them permanently. There is no copy on a server to restore from.
WHAT LEAVES YOUR PHONE, AND WHEN
Game information. When you search for a game or add one, the app asks our own server for that game's cover art, release year, genres and length. That request carries the game's name or id and nothing about you.
Steam import, only if you use it. If you choose to import from Steam, the public profile name you type is sent to our server, which asks Steam which games that public profile owns. We never see or ask for your Steam password, and nothing is ever sent back to Steam.
Purchases. If you subscribe to PILE Plus, the purchase is handled by Google Play and by RevenueCat, who manage the subscription on our behalf. We receive whether a subscription is active, never your card details, which we have no way of seeing.
Nothing else is sent anywhere.
WHAT WE DO NOT DO
No analytics, and no third-party tracking of any kind. No advertising, and no advertising identifiers. No crash reports, which means no crash contents leave your device either. No selling or sharing of data, because there is none to sell.
NOTIFICATIONS
PILE can send you one invitation a day, at a time you choose, naming a game from your own pile. It is composed on your device and sent by your device. It is never a reminder about time passing, and there is never a second one. You can turn it off in Me > Nudge me at all, or refuse the permission entirely. The rest of the app works exactly the same.
CHILDREN
PILE is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone, of any age.
YOUR RIGHTS
Because nothing about you is held on our servers, there is no data of yours for us to hand over or erase. Everything the app knows is on your phone, it is exportable at any time from Me > Export as a readable file you keep, and deletable from the same screen.
CHANGES
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
