About the Act

The End TB Now Act lays the foundation to make TB what it should have been long ago - a disease of the past. This bicameral, bipartisan legislation, introduced by Senators Young (R-IN) and Menendez (D-NJ), with Representatives Ami Bera (D-CA), Maria Salazar (R-FL), Brad Sherman (D-CA), and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), directs the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to set bold targets to reach and treat the most vulnerable populations for all forms of TB.

1) It Requires the U.S. to establish bold goals for reaching the most vulnerable populations to detect, cure and prevent all forms of TB globally

2) It Sstrengthens U.S. bilateral coordination with global organizations

3) It supports research and development of new tools to prevent, diagnose, treat, and control TB, including drug-resistant strains of TB worldwide

4) Codifies the Search, Treat, and Prevent (STP) methodology 

5) Requires annual reporting to Congress to evaluate the performance, focus, and impact of US Supported TB programs
