Stop visiting the accounts office every month. One-time registration on the official portal and your payslip arrives automatically — forever.
Stop visiting the accounts office every month. One-time registration on the official portal and your payslip arrives automatically — forever.
Every month, thousands of government employees across Pakistan make an unnecessary trip to the accounts office — standing in queues, tracking down a clerk, and walking out with a crumpled paper slip. PIFRA was built to make exactly that process disappear.
PIFRA stands for Project to Improve Financial Reporting and Auditing. Launched in 1996 with World Bank support, it was designed to digitalize public sector financial management and bring real transparency to government departments across the country.
The feature most employees care about? Once registered on the official portal at m.pifra.gov.pk, your monthly salary slip lands directly in your email inbox — automatically, every month, at zero cost.
Beyond the salary slip, the system also gives you access to your pension slip, loan and deduction records, DDO budget expenditure reports, and financial data that banks accept for loan applications or visa processing.
This is where new employees often get confused. PIFRA registration is not limited to any one sector, province, or grade. You are eligible if you are:
A federal or provincial government employee — teachers, doctors, police officers, clerks, administrative staff — all included
A pensioner receiving a government pension (same registration portal)
Working at district, provincial, or federal level — all provinces and regions of Pakistan are covered
The one non-negotiable requirement: you must have a working email address. Your monthly payslip is delivered there. If you don't have one, create a Gmail account before opening the registration form. For a detailed breakdown, you can check the complete PIFRA registration requirements guide here:
Registration is completely free for all government employees and pensioners. Here's what becomes available once you're in the system:
Your payslip is automatically delivered every month. After retirement, pension slips arrive at the same address.
Every slip ever sent is saved in your inbox. Scroll back months or years anytime you need a record.
Check every allowance, recovery, and tax deduction directly from official CGA and FABS system data.
DDOs can monitor their department's budget utilization and expenditure reports online.
Digital slips are recognized as official financial proof for loan applications and visa processing.
Data comes directly from FABS and SAP — encrypted and government-authenticated.
PIFRA assigns a unique code to every province and government department in Pakistan. According to data from thepifra.pk, here is the complete list you need before filling out the registration form:
The official registration portal is m.pifra.gov.pk/salaryslip_emp. You can also reach it through the FABS website (fab.tra.gov.pk), which redirects to the same system. Follow these steps exactly:
Open m.pifra.gov.pk/salaryslip_emp
on your mobile or laptop browser. Only use this official URL. Any third-party site claiming to register you is not affiliated with AGPR or CGA.2
Enter your Government Code, Employee ID, CNIC (no dashes), Date of Birth (no dashes), and active mobile number. Then click the verify button.
اپنی دی گئی معلومات کی تصدیق کریں
If your details match the government database, you'll see: "Your given information is correct." If you see an error, the problem is a data mismatch — not a typo on your side. Contact your DDO office to check what's on file.
After verification, click the email registration button to proceed to the next step.
ایمیل رجسٹریشن کے لیے یہاں کلک کریں
Type your email address, enter it again in the confirmation field, then press Enter. The system will show: "Now it is all OK. Please click the submit button." Double-check for spelling errors — there's no easy way to change your email after this.
Click the final submit button. A confirmation message will appear in Urdu confirming your email has been registered. Your payslip will now arrive automatically every month.
آپ کا ای میل رجسٹر ہو چکا ہے۔ آپ کو اس ای میل پر ہر مہینے سیلری سلپ بھیجی جائے گی۔
Tip: If the portal loads slowly or crashes, try again late at night when server traffic is much lower. The PIFRA system experiences heavy load around payroll dates each month.
A lot of people register and then panic two weeks later because nothing has arrived. This is completely normal. Your first slip appears during the next payroll cycle after your registration — not immediately.
If you registered mid-month, expect to wait 3–5 weeks before that first email lands. After that, it comes automatically every month without any action on your part.
Also check your spam or junk folder. Emails from government systems occasionally get filtered, especially the first time. Once you mark it as "Not Spam," future slips go straight to your inbox.
One thing most people don't realize: PIFRA doesn't always send a verification link after registration. Unlike most platforms, the system simply begins delivering your slip from the next payroll cycle. No login required, no monthly check-in — your inbox is your permanent payslip archive.
Your full slip history accumulates in your email over time — useful for loan applications, bank statements, and visa processing, since banks and embassies accept these as official financial records.
Yes — and the process is nearly identical to active employees. Pensioners use the same registration portal at m.pifra.gov.pk with one difference: instead of an Employee ID, you enter the Personal Number from your Pension Book.
The system identifies your pensioner status automatically once your details are verified. After successful registration, you receive monthly pension slips directly to your email — no more visiting pension offices for documentation.
One important note for pensioners: if your pension slips stop arriving, it's usually linked to a lapsed biometric Life Certificate. This is now required periodically through NADRA or your bank. Once renewed, slips resume the following month automatically.
Is PIFRA registration free for all government employees?
Yes, completely free. There are no charges for registration, receiving salary slips, or accessing pension information. Anyone asking for payment to register you is not affiliated with the official PIFRA system.
I just joined the government — when should I register?
As soon as possible after joining. There's no strict deadline, but without registration your payslip access is limited. Registering early also means your salary records build up in your inbox from the start — useful for future loan or visa applications.
My details are correct but the system still shows a mismatch error. Why?
The system compares what you enter against what was submitted when your service record was first created. If there was a clerical error at the departmental level back then, your currently-correct details won't match. Visit your DDO or accounts office to check and fix the stored record.
What is the difference between PIFRA and FABS?
They are the same system accessed through different names. FABS (Financial Accounting and Budgeting System) is the administrative/technical name; PIFRA is the broader project name. Both URLs lead to the same portal and the same data.
Do I need to re-register every year?
No. PIFRA registration is a one-time process. Once done, slips arrive every month without any action from you. The only exception is pensioners whose biometric Life Certificate lapses — that triggers a pause in slip delivery until renewed.
I never received a slip even after a month of registering. What should I do?
Check your spam and junk folder first. If nothing is there, ask your accounts office to confirm that your Employee ID and email are correctly linked in the central system. Sometimes a data entry issue at the departmental level creates a disconnect that the portal alone can't resolve.
Is there an official PIFRA mobile app?
No official PIFRA app exists on Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Any app claiming to be the official PIFRA app is third-party and not affiliated with CGA, AGPR, or the Finance Division. The official web portal at m.pifra.gov.pk is fully mobile-friendly — no app needed.
PIFRA registration takes less than ten minutes when you have the right details in front of you. The portal isn't always the smoothest experience — especially around payroll dates — but the result is worth it: never physically chasing a salary slip again.
The single most practical step before sitting down to register: call your accounts or DDO office and confirm what Employee ID and date of birth they have on file. That one call eliminates the most common error that derails the whole process.
