I'm an Associate Professor of Telecommunications Engineering at the University of L'Aquila, Italy. My research is about the analytical modeling, design, optimization and standardization of wireless systems. Recent topics include wireless protocols for IoT, ultra-reliable low-latency communications (URLLC), resource allocation in cellular networks, machine learning for radio systems, and RFID design.
I received my M.Sc. in Telecommunications Engineering from the University of L'Aquila in 2008, and my Ph.D. in Telecommunications in 2013 from KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, in a joint programme with L'Aquila. My supervisors were Prof. Karl Henrik Johansson and Prof. Carlo Fischione at KTH, and Prof. Fortunato Santucci at L'Aquila. During the Ph.D. I spent six months as a visiting researcher at UC Berkeley, and I stayed at KTH as a research associate until 2014.
From 2014 to 2019 I worked at Ericsson Research in Sweden as a senior researcher and project manager. There I also represented the company in the Bluetooth SIG, where I worked on protocol enhancements for Bluetooth specifications.
I returned to the University of L'Aquila in 2019, first as Assistant Professor and, since October 2023, as Associate Professor. I chair the Master's Program in Telecommunications Engineering and teach courses on signal processing, networks and industrial communications.
