This song is the first song ever written specifically for Pictura Poesis.
"The art dying" is portrayed here by dutch painter Jheronimus Bosch.
The man who dies after a life lived well,
thinks to die with certainty,
a sinful life earns a place in Hell,
but in Heaven, all the good shall be.
Do you fear a loneful death?
Rotting away in the earth perhaps?
Laying, forgotten, none to take care, of your cold and dreadful grave.
Do you fear the Devil’s wrath, the judgement of your God?
The eternal flames of wrath, punishment that never stops?
The sins you have commited, are written down in ink,
while the good deeds of your life, slowly fade and sink
away in the memories of those you leave behind.
A final judgement will be passed,
to relieve you from your doubt,
In a place, a time, for which none may ask,
Because no one really knows.
You need not fear these fancies,
of men that’ve long since passed.
The only true king in this realm of pity and sacrifice,
is the King that passes judgement,
of who lives, and who must die.
All men must die, but you need not live in fear,
All men must die, but you need not have regret,
Accept me as your Master, accept me as your God,
for I will be a kinder Lord.
Take your fate in your own hands,
and embrace your destiny.
Because when it ends, there is no thing worse,
than to mourn those things that might have been.
