This song was written for the "art Rocks" competition but we never made it through the first round.
The Tower of Babel was the subject of three paintings by Pieter Bruegel the Elder. The first, a miniature painted on ivory, was painted while Bruegel was in Rome and is now lost.
Erat autem terra labii unius et sermomum eorendem
Cumque proficiscerentur de oriente invenerunt campum in terra Sennaar et
habiaverunt in eo
Dixitque alter ad
We are here, we must prepare
Who knows when he strikes again.
No longer can we depend on him.
From fire, let us make brick.
Et dixerunt
Let us build a tower,
To reach the heavens
Let our name be known
God can't rival this design
We will be safe inside!
Descendit autem Dominus ut videret civitatem et turrem quam aedificabant filli Adam
Et dixit
Sons of Adam, Daughters of Eve
Bound in one tongue
Have they forgotten their past
why challenge and disappoint me
come let's confound their tongue
they will not understand on and another's speech
And God came down upon the Earth in wrath and anger
Shattering stone and folk to all corners of the Earth
His rage went on and on
Until no trace of Babel remained
