1.1Title:
Influence of Pes Planus on Ankle Joint Mobility- A Narrative Review
1 Author: ALBUN JAMES, 4 th Year BPT, JSS College of Physiotherapy, Mysore.
2 Co-author: VIJAY SAMUEL RAJ V, Associate Professor, JSS College of Physiotherapy, Mysore.
1.1.1 Objectives:
To explore the influence of pes planus on ankle mobility by review of literatures and present as a
narrative review.
1.1.2 Design:
This preliminary review was conducted to obtain the hypothesis, for the research to correlate the
ankle joint range of motion of participants with pes planus and without pes planus (PP). Recent
manuscripts of past five years (2016-2021) were reviewed from Google Scholar and PubMed
using key words and filters using Boolean operators
1.1.3 Results:
A total of 12 articles were included for the narrative review and the reviewed articles apprise
the influence of pes planus on ankle joint mobility.
1.1.4 Conclusion:
Early identification of the range of motion (mobility) in ankle joint in flat foot will prevent
further complication including tightness and contracture of the structures. The studies
emphasized on kinematic analysis and JROM of ankle in subjects with PP. Also there is lack of
studies on corelation among the Indian young adults.
1.1.5 Key words: Ankle joint mobility, pes planus
