A Literature Review on effect of high or low intensity strength training physiotherapy program on OA knee on different pain intensity:
Name: Jeba Ahmed MPT 1 st yr .The oxford college of physiotherapy
Background: Degenerative osteoarthritis is the common form of arthritis and is a
major cause of morbidity and functional limitation . The relationship between
pain intensity and degree of inaccuracy of knee joint position sense were
positively correlated at 60 and 90 degree knee flexion.
Objective: The objective of the study is to examine effect of physiotherapy
rehabilitation program on knee osteoarthritis in patients to determine whether
high intensity or low intensity strength training reduces knee pain on different
pain intensity
Method: A review -article was conducted to summarize the effectiveness of
physiotherapy strengthening program on different pain intensity based on
PUBMED, GOOGLE SCHOLAR from year 2020-2021 with relevant search terms of
OA knee, strengthening exercise , pain management.
Result: The pre intervention VAS score of the mild pain group was lower than that
of the severe pain group.
The post intervention VAS score of the mild pain group was significantly lower
than those of the moderate and severe pain groups.
Conclusion : The low intensity magnitude of pain is one of the prominent factors
that are responsible for the improvement of knee OA.
