OBJECTIVES
To find out the effectiveness of eccentric hamstring versus concentric hamstring training with plyometric training on strength in volleyball players and on jump performance in volleyball players.
METHODOLOGY
A pilot study of randomized controlled trial recruited 24 volleyball players from sports academies in and around Bengaluru between the ages 15-20 of both genders. The subjects were randomized and allotted into two groups (A & B) based on selection criteria. Group A received eccentric exercise intervention i.e., Nordic hamstring exercise. Group B received concentric exercise intervention i.e., weighted hamstring curl. Both groups received hamstring-focused Plyometric training. 1 Repetitive Maximum of hamstring and Vertical jump height using My Jump 2.0 App were performed at baseline and after 4 weeks of intervention.
RESULTS
10 participants were evaluated over same period on and strength. Mann Whitney u test compared changes in jump performance and strength between Group A and Group B. Statistical significance was set at p < 0.05. The mean value of jump performance and 1 RM were 1.045 cm and 1.85 kg. Hence, there is no statistical significance between the groups.
CONCLUSION
At this current point of time, both the interventions shows no significant changes .
