ELECTROTHERAPY FOR POST-PARTUM BREAST PROBLEMS

OBJECTIVES: To identify the best forms of treatment for women who experience breast problems postnatal
METHODS: A total of 50 women were selected from our department based on the inclusion criteria of lactating mothers with breast engorgement and pain for at least 2-3 days who underwent vaginal delivery or lower segmental caesarean section. After getting the consent from mothers an after explaining the process, they were ask to rate their level of engorgement and pain through six point self-rated engorgement scale.
RESULT: The study showed that prevalence of breast engorgement among the lactating mothers was 65%- 75%.
CONCLUSION: Breast engorgement is a major issue in lactating mothers and can lead to many problems like mastitis, blocked ducts, sore or cracked nipples.
