OBJECTIVES: The objective of this study is to implementation of combined MFR and
visceral manipulation protocol to restore the myofascial properties of the diaphragm and it also
reduce the effects of symptoms, consumption of proton pump inhibitors. It improves the quality
of life.
METHOD: Subject were selected on the basis of inclusion and exclusion criteria. The
treatment duration is 8 weeks (4 sessions/ week). Treatments includes, first session of a week
is given both visceral manipulation and MFR (techniques: diaphragmatic transverse plane,
anterio-posterior equilibrium test, supra and infra hyoid fascial induction, psoas fascial
induction, diaphragmatic stretching). After the first session only give the MFR.
RESULT: Gastrointestinal QDL index (GIQDL), Reflux disease questionnaire are tools used
for assessment. All variables were assessed at baseline, one week and 4 week after the end of
treatment (8 weeks). After the 8 weeks subject shows significant improvements in
symptomatology, gastro intestinal quality of life.
CONCLUSION: These findings indicates the combined use of MFR and visceral
manipulation protocol decrease the symptoms, PPIs Usage and increased quality of life.
KEYWORDS: Gastro esophagel reflux disease (GERD), Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI),
Myofascial release (MFR), visceral manipulation.
