National Honor Society

The four principles of National Honor are character, scholarship, leadership and service. The character and the leadership traits are intangibles and are hard to evaluate. PHS's chapter of the National Honor Society is named the Emily Ball chapter. This is the 88th year of the Emily Ball chapter of the National Honor Society. You can visit the official National Honor Society website at http://www.nhs.us/ .

The National Honor Society is a program of the National Association of Secondary School Principals that seek to recognize those students who

  • Exhibit excellent scholastic records
  • Are active in their school and community
  • Show leadership
  • Live lives of exceptional character

The students selected for membership in the Emily Ball chapter have a grade-point average of at least 4.0 on a scale of 5.0 .

They are selected by a special faculty committee that evaluates the individual student for the traits of exemplary character, outstanding leadership and active service.

Only those students judged high in those areas are our inductees and members.
