TSI (Texas Success Initiative)
Students who need to show college readiness in reading, writing, and mathematics will take the TSI Assessment. The TSI Assessment is aligned to the Texas College and Career Readiness Standards. It offers both placement testing as well as detailed diagnostic profiles of students’ college readiness and/or adult basic education levels. Colleges and universities may require students to demonstrate college readiness prior to enrolling. In Texas, students must meet TSI (Texas Success Initiative) standards by taking the TSI Exam or by scoring high enough on the ACT or SAT.
Pottsboro High School is also a TSI Testing Center, but the exam will only be offered on selected dates.
Testing Time The TSI Assessment is an untimed test. The test publisher estimates that most students will take about four hours to take all three sections.
Complete the Pre-Assessment Activity prior to testing. Failure to complete the PAA will result in you not being able to test.
PHS will pay for students to take the TSI one time. Additional tests will cost $10 per section (Reading, Writing, Math).
Practice: Free TSI practice available here.
Scores Scores are usually available immediately after testing. Sometimes the essay score is delayed, and a complete score report is available on the next business day.
