Monday's worst severe weather occurred mostly in Texas and Oklahoma. At least 20 tornadoes were reported in those two states, several of which left widespread structural damage. In Grayson County, Texas, one woman was killed by a tornado in the Sherwood Shores community Monday.

The above aerial photos show burned forests and destroyed homes after the aggressive wildfire moved through residential areas. In some cases, homeowners fled with just minutes to spare as fire crews abandoned firefighting duties to help get residents out of the fire's path.

\\\"The most intense wildfires can create fire whirls near their edge, basically like a dust devil, but of intensely-heated, rising air consolidating rotation like a spinning skater bringing in its arms,\\\" weather.com senior digital meteorologist Jonathan Erdman explained.

\\\"I like to try to capture the character of the animal I'm photographing. Sometimes even the smallest bug can show a cheeky side to it,\\\" Bridger told weather.com. \\\"I think little owls have the best facial expressions out of the animals I photograph. They can look grumpy, then angry, then curious all within a minute or so.\\\"

Although some towns are cut off from the outside world by flooding and damage, aerial images of some of these communities have been taken. In these photos, it's clear that the situation is extremely dire, and entire towns have been destroyed.

The evacuation order was issued May 3 as the inferno, aided by warm, dry weather and windy conditions, pushed closer to the town. In a matter of hours, the blaze burned hundreds of homes and leapt over roadways and containment lines.

The photographer cites the role of weather in the mood he captures in his images. \\\"In Belgium we get a lot of dull grey skies. Weather in Canada is better in general, we get more blue skies here in Alberta, and more dramatic weather too, which make for cool sunsets and sunrises and amazing skies.\\\"

Severe thunderstorms continue to threaten parts of the Gulf Coast toward the Mississippi Valley Wednesday after roughly 350 reports of severe weather were received by National Weather Service offices Tuesday into Wednesday morning. The possibility for a few tornados remains.

Low temperatures are expected to be in the mid-40s in Kumamoto city overnight Tuesday, continuing a trend of cooler weather in the area that has pushed many residents back into shelters or cars for warmth.

Speed limits along a stretch of the Massachusetts Turnpike were reduced due to the snowfall on Monday, and many districts in the state canceled classes. In the Bronx, inclement weather forced the postponement of the New York Yankees' home opener.

TAMPA, Fla -- With Hurricane Idalia moving into the Tampa Bay area, we are looking for photos to show during our newscast and on our website/app to help illustrate what the conditions are like across the region.

Shooting interiors in overcast weather can be a total joy. Rather than have to tame harsh shadows and bright sunshine, the space will be filled with beautiful soft light that washes over your subject and fills in shadows without much effort. You can get away shooting without using any light at all on most overcast days, and post production is much easier because the dynamic range of the scene stays more consistent due to your light sources turning into giant natural softboxes.

ORLANDO, Fla -- As severe weather moves through our area, we are looking for photos to show during our newscast and on our website/app to help illustrate what the conditions are like across the region.

If the weather report is clear for your session, phew! You can breath a sigh of relief. Just know that when the weather is clear, timing is everything. The absolute best time to shoot, in my opinion, is within the first hour to hour and a half after sunrise or about 2-3 hours before sunset.

As well as improving our weather forecasting abilities, MTG-I1 will be vital for monitoring climate change, giving us greater understanding of our planet and the weather systems that shape it, and helping to protect our precious world.

MTG-I1 is now undergoing a year-long commissioning phase. This involves its instruments being carefully tested to ensure the data they produce are accurate. Once that is complete, by the end of 2023, the satellite will help to make the weather forecasts that we use in Europe better than ever. Five more satellites are planned for launch, and the entire system will hopefully be complete by 2026!

When there is a large wildfire, an IMET is often deployed to the fire incident command post. IMETs provide critical fire weather information to wildfire management teams so they can map out the safest possible tactics for firefighters, while also generating immediate and short-term spot forecasts needed for fire suppression. NOAA has approximately 100 IMETs and IMET trainees that are stationed at NWS forecast offices throughout the country, ready to deploy.

Data collected from weather balloons help meteorologists develop highly detailed and point- specific forecasts that are used by fire managers to help formulate a strategy for operations for an upcoming 24-hour period. Watch a launch.

Taking photos in different weather conditions, of course, requires different strategies. When it comes to photography, the weather and time of day can change everything about a photo. The ocean on a hot sunny day compared to on a stormy night, 2 very different pictures!

While many people would say this is their least favourite weather, it is actually one of my favourite for taking photos. Why? Because the clouds reduce the amount of light from the sun and hence you get a much softer light. There are no harsh reflections or sharp shadows.

To give yourself a better chance of taking a good photo in sunny weather conditions, you need to set up your camera correctly. You are going to want increase the shutter speed and decrease the aperture.
