Minho Choi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and the AI Graduate School at UNIST, South Korea, where he leads the Photonic Intelligence Lab. He received his B.S. and Ph.D. in Physics from KAIST, specializing in semiconductor physics and optics. He later expanded his research into metasurfaces and optical neural networks during his postdoctoral work at the University of Washington.
His current research integrates optics, electrical engineering, and computer science, focusing on optical sensing, optical computing, and optical packaging, with a core emphasis on nanophotonics and optical metasurfaces. These innovations support hardware for optical computing, aerospace communication, and intelligent imaging. Building on this interdisciplinary framework, he explores the integration of artificial intelligence and advanced optics to leverage their mutual strengths.
Honors and recognitions include the KAIST Presidential Fellowship, Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies Fellowship, the National Scholarship for Science and Engineering, and acknowledgment for his BK21 representative Ph.D. work.
