This Privacy Policy explains how the Photo Cleaner: CleanMate mobile application (the "App") and its related services (collectively, the "Service") collect, use, share, and protect your personal information.
By downloading, installing, or using the App, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Policy and agree to its terms. You also confirm that you are at least 16 years old, or that you have obtained verifiable parental or guardian consent if under 16.
If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not access or use the Service.
For any questions, concerns, or privacy-related requests, contact us at help@sunnysideau.com.
We collect certain types of information to operate the App effectively, improve performance, and enhance your overall experience. Below is a clear summary of what we collect and why.
1.1. Device & Technical Data
We collect technical details about your device and App usage, including:
IP address, device model, operating system version, and App version.
Usage metrics such as session length, frequency of App use, and features accessed (e.g., photo cleanup, video compression).
Crash reports and performance diagnostics to identify and resolve technical issues.
1.2. Identifiers & Advertising IDs
We collect device-based identifiers such as:
GAID (Google Advertising ID) – A resettable advertising identifier provided by Android, used for attribution and analytics.
Android ID – A unique identifier assigned to each Android device.
UUID (Universally Unique Identifier) generated internally by the App.
1.3. User-Provided Content
We collect the information you voluntarily provide, including:
Feedback, ratings, or reviews submitted via Google Play.
Messages or attachments shared with our support team (e.g., via email or in-app chat).
App-generated content such as your settings preferences or feature inputs.
Content necessary for core functionality, for example: Access to photos or photo libraries for photo management features.
1.4. Analytics Data
We use third-party analytics tools (such as Firebase) to gather aggregated, non-identifiable data, including:
Subscription trends (e.g., number of premium users).
Feature engagement statistics (e.g., which tools are most used).
Overall usage patterns to guide performance improvements.
1.5. Face Data Processing
If you use photo organization or selection features that rely on facial recognition:
Local Processing: All face data is processed entirely on-device in an offline environment. No face data is transmitted to servers or third parties.
Data Types: The App may generate numerical face embeddings (mathematical vectors), facial landmarks (key points describing facial geometry), and blendshape coefficients (values representing facial expressions).
Purpose: Used exclusively for on-device photo organization and selection.
Storage & Retention: Face data is stored only within your device's local App database and is automatically deleted when:
a. The related photos are removed,
b. The App's data is cleared, or
c. The App is uninstalled.
No Sharing: We do not upload, sell, or share face data with any third parties.
1.6. Children's Data
We do not knowingly collect personal data from individuals under the age of 16 without verifiable parental or guardian consent. If you believe a minor's information has been collected, please contact us at help@sunnysideau.com, and we will promptly investigate and remove it.
To provide its features, the App requests the following device permissions. You can review or revoke runtime permissions at any time in your device settings.
Photos and Videos — to scan, analyze, and manage your media for features such as duplicate detection, cleanup, and video compression. Where supported, you may grant access to only selected items rather than your entire library.
Storage (older Android versions) — on Android 12 and below, to read and modify media files so the App can delete or move photos and videos you choose.
Notifications — to send you feature updates, tips, and support responses. You can disable these at any time.
Network access — to connect to the internet, check connection status, and enable core online features.
Billing — to process in-app purchases and subscriptions through Google Play.
Advertising and attribution — to access advertising identifiers and installation source information used to measure installs, engagement, and campaign performance, as described in the "How We Share Your Information" and "Tracking Technologies" sections.
Background operation — to keep essential tasks (such as notifications and downloads) running reliably.
We collect data for practical reasons, not curiosity. Here's how we actually use it:
Operate the Service: To deliver and maintain the App's core features—such as cleaning duplicate photos, compressing videos, and managing storage. Face data is used solely for features involving photo analysis (like AI-based sorting or best-photo selection). For more details, see the "Special Note Regarding Face Data" section below.
Personalize Your Experience: We use your preferences and usage patterns to tailor in-app content, surface relevant tools, and suggest new features that might actually be useful to you.
Improve the App: Usage and performance data help us debug, optimize speed, and decide which features deserve attention.
Marketing & Analytics: Collected identifiers (such as GAID, Android ID, and UUID) allow us to measure installs, engagement, and campaign performance. These insights help us and our service partners deliver relevant content and understand how people use the App—without revealing your identity.
Communicate with You: We may send push notifications or in-app messages about feature updates, tips, or promotions. You can turn these off anytime in your device settings. We'll also use your contact details to reply to support requests and resolve issues.
Legal & Security Compliance: To comply with applicable laws, prevent fraud or misuse, enforce our Terms of Service, and resolve disputes when necessary.
Aggregate Insights: We analyze anonymized, aggregated data to understand trends—like which features users enjoy most or which device models struggle with performance—so we can keep refining the experience.
We don't sell your personal data. We only share it when necessary to operate the Service, meet legal obligations, or improve the App responsibly.
4.1. Third-Party Service Providers
We work with trusted partners who help us deliver, analyze, and improve the App. These include:
Analytics: Tools like Firebase that provide usage insights, and crash diagnostics.
Infrastructure: Cloud providers such as Google Cloud, used for secure hosting and data processing.
Ad & Attribution Partners: We share identifiers (such as GAID, Android ID, and UUID) with partners such as Google and Adjust to measure installs and attribute engagement to help us understand how the App is used.
All partners are contractually bound to handle your data securely and may only process it for the limited purposes we specify.
4.2. Legal Requirements
We may disclose your data when required to do so by law or when necessary to:
Comply with legal processes (e.g., court orders, subpoenas, or government requests).
Prevent fraud, security breaches, or potential harm to users.
Enforce our Terms of Service or defend against legal claims.
4.3. Business Transfers
If the Photo Cleaner Team (or its assets) is involved in a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale, your data may be transferred to the acquiring or successor entity. Any such entity will be required to handle your personal data in a manner consistent with this Privacy Policy.
4.4. Aggregated & De-Identified Data
We may share aggregated or anonymized data—such as "85% of users prefer similar photo cleanup"—with partners for research, analytics, or marketing. This data cannot be used to identify you personally.
4.5. International Data Transfers (EEA, UK, and Switzerland)
If your data is transferred to countries that may not offer the same level of data protection, we safeguard it using Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or rely on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, as applicable. We take reasonable steps to ensure your data receives an adequate level of protection wherever it is processed.
Photo Cleaner uses on-device facial analysis technology to help evaluate photo quality and subject expressions in user-selected photos. We treat face-related data with the highest level of privacy and security.
5.1. Data Collection
All facial data generation and processing occur entirely on your device in an offline environment. No face data is transmitted, uploaded, or synced over any network.
The App may generate the following data types solely for on-device comparison and expression analysis:
a. Facial Landmarks: Two-dimensional coordinates of key facial feature points within a photo.
b. Blendshape Coefficients: Numerical values representing specific facial expressions or movements (e.g., smiling, eyes open).
c. Face Embeddings: Mathematical vectors used to group or compare similar faces. These embeddings are not biometric identifiers and cannot be used to reconstruct or identify an individual's real-world appearance.
We do not retain or store original facial images once processing is complete.
5.2. Data Use
Face data is used exclusively for on-device features and never for advertising, tracking, or profiling. Specifically:
Facial Landmarks and Blendshape Coefficients are analyzed to evaluate pose and expression quality, enabling our "best photo" scoring algorithm to recommend images where subjects look their best.
Face Embeddings are used to group similar faces, allowing users to organize or filter duplicate photos featuring specific individuals.
Favorites Ranking: If you mark certain individuals as "prioritized," the App uses embeddings to recognize those faces locally and adjust "best photo" rankings accordingly—ensuring their preferred expressions are highlighted.
5.3. Data Sharing & Disclosure
All facial data (landmarks, blendshapes, embeddings) is processed entirely within your device's local environment using on-device machine learning models.
No facial data is ever uploaded to, transmitted through, or processed by our servers or any third party.
Data is securely stored within the App's local sandboxed database, isolated from other applications.
5.4. Data Storage & Retention
Face data remains stored locally only as long as it is needed for on-device photo management features.
If a photo is deleted, the associated face data is immediately and permanently removed from the local database.
All locally stored face data is permanently erased when you uninstall the App or clear its data.
You have rights over your personal data, and we take them seriously. Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR in the EEA or the CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have some or all of the following rights:
Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Rectification: Ask us to correct any inaccurate or incomplete personal data we hold about you.
Deletion ("Right to Be Forgotten"): Request that we delete your personal data. Please note that we may retain certain information where required by law (such as tax or accounting records).
Restriction of Processing: Ask us to limit how your data is used in specific circumstances.
Objection: Object to particular forms of processing, such as direct marketing or profiling.
Data Portability: Request your data in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format so you can transfer it elsewhere.
Non-Discrimination: Exercising your privacy rights won't result in any unfair treatment, denial of service, or different pricing.
Right to Complain: If you believe your data is being mishandled, you can contact your local data protection authority (for example, the ICO in the UK or your regional regulator).
To exercise any of these rights, please email help@sunnysideau.com with sufficient details to verify your identity (such as the email address used in the App).
If you are a California resident, you may also request information about how your data has been shared for marketing purposes by emailing us with the subject line "Request for California Privacy Information" and including your name, state, and contact email.
We will respond to all valid requests within the legally required timeframe—typically 30 to 45 days, depending on your jurisdiction.
We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to:
Provide and maintain the Service (for example, until you uninstall the App or delete your account).
Comply with legal and regulatory obligations, such as retaining billing or tax records.
Resolve disputes, enforce our Terms, and protect our legal rights.
As a general guideline:
Account-related data is retained while your account is active.
Transaction or payment records may be retained for up to seven (7) years to satisfy tax and accounting requirements.
If you request data deletion, we will remove your personal information unless retention is legally required or necessary for legitimate business purposes (such as fraud prevention).
We may continue to store aggregated or anonymized data—for example, usage statistics that no longer identify you—for analytical and research purposes without time limitation.
We take security seriously, using measures like:
Encryption for data in transit and at rest.
Secure protocols for data transfers.
Regular audits to spot vulnerabilities.
That said, no system is bulletproof. Hackers are crafty, and while we do our best, we can't guarantee absolute protection. If we detect a breach, we'll notify you as required by law (e.g., within 72 hours under GDPR).
We take the security of your information seriously and use a combination of technical, administrative, and organizational safeguards to protect it. These include:
Encryption for data both in transit and at rest.
Secure communication protocols for data transfer and storage.
Regular security reviews and audits to identify and address potential vulnerabilities.
That said, no system is completely immune to risk. While we work hard to protect your information, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute protection against unauthorized access.
If we ever detect a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and relevant authorities as required by applicable law (for example, within 72 hours under the GDPR).
The App integrates with certain third-party services and tools, each governed by their own privacy policies. These partners help us provide essential functionality, analytics, and performance improvements. Key partners include:
