Rehearsal: On Wednesday, October 29th - Bodnar will stay from 8 - 9 PM to work on HS Band Day music with anyone who wishes to stay.
Uniform (As described in the email): "For the game, you will need to wear blue jeans (Color Guard: black leggings), tennis shoes, and your HSBD shirt (provided for you - day of)." WEAR LAYERS, it WILL be cold. May be a good idea to bring your band rain jacket or parka as well!
Remember your music! Bring money if you would like to buy Starbucks, concessions, or food after the game - I will give you a chance to get something at the student center if you want to.

Parents planning to attend - the festival is at Deer Lakes and starts at 7 PM. The band parents have presale tickets for you to purchase. You can buy these as late as drop off on Tuesday. If you purchase tickets through presale the proceeds go directly to our marching band, if purchased at the festival the money goes to Deer Lakes.

Parents - please remember that bringing food to your child in the stands during football games is not allowed. The only game where students will be allowed food other than the provided snack/ water in the stands is at the Homecoming Game and when the band parents provide them with pizza.
When we have an early report time for away games/ festivals on a week day, 4:45 PM or before, we have a school provided bagged meal available for the students. Games with later report times, they need to eat before arriving.
Thursday, September 11th - Rosedale Festival: Report Time: 4:45 PM
Summer Uniform Shirt. Neutral Colored Pants. (Jeans, Black, Khaki, etc. No holes.) Tennis Shoes.
Bring your instrument/ music.
Bring money if you'd like to buy food or play games. We perform at 6 PM. We will leave the festival at 8 PM, dismiss from the HS at about 8:30 PM.
***If your parent is going to pick you up from the festival, I need a note and a director needs to see you with your parent before you leave.

Report to the band room at the end of 6th period to get ready. There should be an announcement.

Uniform: SUMMER UNIFORMS. Summer Uniform T-Shirt (NOT YOUR SHOW SHIRT), Plain Black Shorts of an appropriate length with no rips, white or colored details, and not skin tight leggings materials.
Shoes - Marching/ VE Shoes with BLACK SOCKS. Shoes are being passed out this week, if you do not have the actual band/VE shoes on Friday you will not march! Black Socks are also a required part of your uniform.

For away football games/ festivals/ etc it is highly encouraged that all students ride buses home and are picked up from the high school. In the event that a parent MUST pick up their child from the away location, I need a signed note from the parent prior to the event.
A director must see you with your parent or the authorized adult before you are allowed to leave.
Home games, we will dismiss from the high school after the game NOT from the stadium.
Pitt Band Day is scheduled for Saturday, September 6th. This is an optional event
The fee for Pitt Band Day is $19. The fee is due to the band board by Friday, September 5th. You can turn it in earlier as well.
We will get a bus for this event, report time will be 7 AM to guarantee we arrive on time for registration.
If you are interested in attending Pitt Band Day, you need to sign up on the paper in the band room by Saturday, August 16th. (Moved from Friday, due to no band event on that day)
If you put your name on the sign up sheet, you are agreeing to pay the $19 fee, whether you go or not. I will be calling to register our group after Saturday and the band board is covering the cost up front, to allow more time for all of you to get your money in.
Monday, August 11th - Performance for the Teachers
Report Time: 7:00 AM
Uniform: Wear a Penn Hills shirt.
Grab instruments and poms, play at the entrance for the teachers roughly from 7:15 AM to 8:15 AM.
We will be finished by 8:15 AM at the latest, plan for pick up at 8:30 AM.
Monday night - first evening rehearsal of the season. 6 - 9 PM at the High School.
Wednesday, August 13th - Reminder that we are having Wednesday rehearsals this year, NOT Thursdays. Rehearsal from 6 - 9 PM at the High School.

Friday, August 8th - Rita's Fundraiser 6 - 8 PM
Band Camp will end at 3 PM on Friday. For Rita's wear a Penn Hills shirt, instrumentalist bring your instrument and music. VE bring your poms. From 6 - 8 PM, we will play music and the marching band gets a portion of Rita's profit.
Saturday, August 9th - Parent Preview Night 7 PM - 8ish

Location: Football Stadium (Rain Location: Highschool Main Gym)
Parents come get a first look at our "Barbie" Halftime Show! The Kona Ice Truck will be parked at the Fralic for anyone that wants to buy some.

The parade is set for 7:30 PM, at 5:45 PM you need to be back at the pavilion. You will receive further instructions from there.
I will send a Remind when we are on our way back to the school. The plan is to leave Kennywood at park close, which is 9 PM.
Parents - If you want to take your child home from Kennywood, or send your child home with another parent, we need this in writing from you. A director also needs to see the student with the adult they are leaving with after the parade.
This meeting will give a trip update, discuss trip registration procedure, and when registration will open. The initial trip deposit will allow us to reserve our flight - deposit will be $100 and will likely be due by Friday, August 8th.
Any parents that are interested in chaperoning should plan to attend this meeting and/ or contact me directly. We can take a limited number of parent chaperones on this trip. Parents that wish to chaperone MUST have their district required clearances, and sign up to chaperone/ volunteer during the regular band season.

In preparation for band camp, here are some important reminders -
Registration FORM and Medical form are both DUE on day one of band camp - MONDAY, July 28th.
You will need a summer uniform for Kennywood during week 2 of band camp. Make sure that you have -
Solid black shorts of an appropriate length, with no rips, logos, white or colored details, and not skin tight or leggings material.
If you do not have a summer uniform shirt you will need to purchase one by Monday, August 4th at the latest. Cost is $8 for S - XL or $12 for 2XL and 3XL.
Lastly, make sure you have plain black socks, short socks are okay for Kennywood.
Lyres and Flip Folders - Instrumentalists - If you do not have a Lyre and Flip Folder, please get one before band camp! The flip folder is where you will store your music, and the lyre is how you attach the music to your instrument.
