Passed PhD Qualifying Exam
Nov 21, 2023
@Northwestern University
I am thrilled to share that I have successfully passed my PhD qualifying exam! This milestone was not just a test of knowledge, but a journey filled with challenges, learning, and immense support from my mentors, peers, and family.
The form of the qualifying exam is that the committee chooses a paper that is usually fundamental and hard, and may or may not related to the student's research. The student is given 1 month to read the paper and then prepare a 40-minute presentation about this paper.
The paper chosen by my committee is :
Johari, Ramesh, and John N. Tsitsiklis. "Efficiency loss in a network resource allocation game." Mathematics of Operations Research 29.3 (2004): 407-435.
The paper is interesting and the result is like magic. Great job!
