If you want a secure, lightweight solution specifically engineered for running with high-fidelity bass that stays put, choose Philips In-Ear Headphones Insert; if you need a versatile, wireless powerhouse with massive battery life for studio work or long home listening sessions, choose Keenso Over Ear.
• Philips In-Ear Headphones Insert: Its biggest strength is the ergonomic angled acoustic pipe design that delivers precise sound and exceptional noise isolation right in your ear canal; its trade-off is that it is strictly wired, tethering you to your device via a 3.5mm jack. This pick is for runners and active users who need a secure fit without wires getting in the way of movement.
• Keenso Over Ear: Its biggest strength is the combination of Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity and an impressive 60-hour battery life paired with plush memory foam comfort; its trade-off is the bulkier over-ear form factor which may feel too heavy or hot for intense cardio. This pick is for music enthusiasts, DJs, and anyone prioritizing long, uninterrupted listening sessions indoors or on the go.
The Philips In-Ear Headphones Insert Type Rich Bass SHE9550/28 is built around a very specific philosophy: get the sound directly into your ear while keeping the weight to a minimum. The core of this design lies in the angled acoustic pipe channels. Unlike standard drivers that shoot sound straight forward, these channels are directed to provide precise audio delivery that feels natural inside the ear canal.
For the active user, specifically someone looking for a hi-res kids headset for running or an adult runner, the physical build is critical. These headphones utilize an ergonomic angled acoustic design that ensures a natural fit. They come with three sizes of ultra-soft silicone caps, allowing you to dial in the perfect seal. A tight seal is not just about comfort; it provides exceptional noise isolation, which allows you to listen at lower volumes while still hearing every detail. This is a crucial safety feature for outdoor activity. Furthermore, the cable includes a flexi-grip connection, making the link between the earpiece and the cord durable against the constant tugging and swinging motion of jogging. The 1.2-meter cable length is ideal for outdoor use, providing enough slack to move freely without pulling the device out of your pocket or off your phone.
However, this product is not for everyone. It relies entirely on a wired 3.5mm jack connectivity technology. There is no Bluetooth, no battery to charge, and no wireless freedom. You must carry your audio source connected directly to the headphones. While this eliminates the anxiety of a dying battery during a run, it does limit your mobility in terms of how far you can step away from your device. Additionally, because they are in-ear monitors, some people find them less comfortable for all-day wear compared to over-ear options. If you are looking for open ear headphones for running to stay aware of traffic without blocking out the world, these might be too isolating. But if your goal is deep immersion, secure fit, and rich bass without the bulk of a headset, this is the tool for the job. The inclusion of a cable winder is a thoughtful touch for storage, ensuring the 1.2m cord doesn't end up in a tangled mess when you aren't using it.

The Keenso Over Ear Wired Headset represents a different category of audio experience entirely. Here, the focus shifts from portability and security to immersion, comfort, and sheer longevity of use. The most striking feature immediately available in the specifications is the battery capacity. With a built-in lithium-ion battery of 600 mAh, these headphones promise up to 60 hours of continuous playback on a full charge. In the world of consumer electronics, sixty hours is a staggering number. It means you could listen for two weeks straight on a single charge, assuming you only used them for four hours a day. This makes them an incredible choice for travelers, students, or anyone who hates the routine of plugging in their headphones every night.
Comfort is another pillar of the Keenso design. The earcups are wrapped in skin-friendly protein leather and filled with soft memory foam. This combination is designed to absorb pressure and prevent the "clamping" sensation that many over-ear headphones cause after an hour of use. The adjustable headband guarantees a perfect fit for every head shape, which is essential since the fit varies wildly among individuals. The design also features 90° rotating earcups, a feature often found in professional DJ gear. This allows you to swivel one earcup to monitor your music while staying engaged with your surroundings, or fold the headphones down flat for compact storage. The material composition includes ABS plastic for the shell and PU for the ear pads, creating a durable yet flexible structure that can withstand daily handling.
Connectivity is where the Keenso truly separates itself from traditional wired-only models. It utilizes Bluetooth 5.4 technology, which pairs quickly within 1 to 3 seconds after powering on. The effective range extends up to 10 meters (33 feet), giving you significant freedom to walk around your room, kitchen, or even your backyard without losing the signal. While it is marketed heavily towards DJs and music enthusiasts who appreciate deep bass, the frequency response range of 20Hz to 20kHz suggests it covers the full spectrum of human hearing. The package is exhaustive, including two 3.5mm cables, a 6.35mm adapter for professional equipment, a 2-in-1 sound adapter, and a USB power cable. This versatility means you aren't just buying headphones; you are buying a complete audio setup capable of connecting to everything from smartphones to mixing consoles. However, the over-ear design inherently adds weight and heat compared to in-ear options, making them less suitable for high-intensity running where sweat and friction are major concerns.
• Best for Running → Philips In-Ear Headphones Insert: The angled acoustic design and secure silicone fit make these superior for keeping rhythm and stability during movement, whereas the bulky Keenso would likely bounce and trap heat.
• Best for Battery Life → Keenso Over Ear: With a 60-hour runtime and Bluetooth 5.4, it dwarfs the passive, wire-dependent nature of the Philips, which has no battery at all.
• Best for Noise Isolation → Philips In-Ear Headphones Insert: The in-ear seal creates a physical barrier that blocks external noise more effectively than the over-ear design, allowing for quality sound at lower volumes.
• Best for Studio Work → Keenso Over Ear: The 90° rotating earcups, included 6.35mm adapter, and memory foam comfort are tailored for monitoring and extended mixing sessions.
• Best Portability → Philips In-Ear Headphones Insert: Weighing only 2.4 ounces, they are incredibly light and packable, though the wire requires management.
• Best Connectivity Options → Keenso Over Ear: Offers both robust wireless Bluetooth 5.4 and multiple wired inputs (3.5mm and 6.35mm) for maximum flexibility.
• Best Value Package → Keenso Over Ear: Comes with a wide array of adapters and cables, whereas the Philips offers a simpler, more minimalistic set of accessories.
• Best for Sweat Resistance → Philips In-Ear Headphones Insert: The flexi-grip and silicone materials are generally better suited for the moisture generated during exercise than the protein leather of the Keenso.
After analyzing the specifications and intended use cases, I would buy the Philips In-Ear Headphones Insert if my primary goal was finding a reliable pair of hi res kids headset for running or personal gear for active use. The engineering behind the angled acoustic pipes and the lightweight, secure fit addresses the specific challenges of exercise—sweat, movement, and wind noise—in a way that bulky over-ear headphones simply cannot. The ability to hear clearly at lower volumes due to the noise isolation is a practical safety benefit I value highly.
However, if my needs shifted toward long-haul listening, travel, or working in a studio environment where I am stationary, the Keenso Over Ear becomes the clear winner. The 60-hour battery life and Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity offer a level of convenience and freedom that the wired Philips cannot match. For general music enjoyment at home or on a commute, the comfort of the memory foam and the depth of the over-ear design provide a richer, more immersive experience. Ultimately, the decision comes down to whether you prioritize the agility of a runner or the endurance of a listener.
While the Philips model features a durable flexi-grip and silicone construction suitable for active use, neither product explicitly lists an IPX waterproof rating in the provided data sheets. They are designed to handle sweat and outdoor conditions, but submerging them in water is not recommended based on the available specifications.
No, the Keenso Over Ear headphones rely on a built-in lithium-ion battery for their Bluetooth 5.4 functionality. While they include 3.5mm cables for wired use, the wireless features and the specific amplification capabilities described require power from the internal 600 mAh battery.
Both products emphasize bass performance, but through different methods. The Philips uses Acoustics Vent controls to manage low frequencies for "deep clean bass" in a small package, while the Keenso utilizes large 40mm driver units and an over-ear enclosure to deliver powerful, resonant bass suitable for DJs and audiophiles.
