Hi, I'm Philip. I’m 32, I grew up in the country near Rochester NY and learned to be a kind, patient, strong, honest, fun, hardworking man. I caretake a 600-acre forest reserve on the north coast of California in Mendocino County, and do conservation work (i.e. protecting land). I’ve been living with this land 5 years now and have a cabin and garden here.
I'm 6’4” and fit and healthy. I plunge in the creek most days year round and am outdoors most days, do yoga to stay flexible, and am always running around in the forest clambering over and under and through. I eat real food, much of it grown by me or by friends, that I mostly cook from scratch. I avoid giving my body anything unnatural like pharma medication, toxic chemicals, etc. Food and movement and music and beauty and community are my medicine. I avoid social media and I sleep well. I don't use caffeine or alcohol or tobacco or cannabis; no judgment of anyone who does; I'm just happy to not need them.
I'm an adult in the sense of responsible, emotionally stable, financially stable, etc. Aaand.. when those adult capacities are not needed, I'm like a child full of wonder and delight which I love to express through creating - whether it's gardening or crafts or writing or music.
I had a career as a software engineer working on Google Search. I left that career to give myself to things I love and care about. I could work remotely as an engineer again or do something else if I want to earn extra money for something.
I have a long attention span, can handle silence, listen attentively, and be present.
I love learning things. I recently taught myself to play the fiddle and I absolutely love it. Food is one of my bigger passions/hobbies/ways-of-life: growing, foraging, preserving, cooking, experimenting. My other secret hobby is nature photography.
I'm handy and competent, I helped build and now maintain the infrastructure where I live, buildings, electric, plumbing, engines, etc.
I am also committed to my inner work. I want to know all the parts of myself so I don't act out of fear. I take responsibility to transform the uglier patterns in myself. I do this work with a local mens group and with others.
Spiritually, I believe the world is alive and communicating always. I'm less interested in defining people's spiritual identities, but I am fascinated with communicating with the living world, and with being a human animal.
Community is very important to me. I'm connected to the Mennonite Church in San Francisco, though I don't live there anymore, and am also very connected to community in the rural area where I live.
I love kids. I never get bored being with my little nephew. I want to raise kids, probably my own but not necessarily - I could see adopting or being in some kind of community with kids I'm close to.
As far as how/where I want to live. I love where I am now and might stay here long term, and, I'm in a place of openness to possibility right now, where I'm traveling often but still have this homestead as a home base to return to. If we connect from a distance, I have flexibility to come spend time where you are, and/or for you to come spend time here (there's a nice guest house here and it's a wonderful place for a vacation, just saying!). I am not likely to want to live in a desert or a big city.
I'm looking for a woman with a similar mix of stability and competence and childlikeness. I really love my life and see it as a gift to be appreciated and enjoyed, and shared.
