In his spare time, Dr. Amir enjoys spending time with his wife Adela and two kids, Tristan and Lilly. When he can, he enjoys playing guitar, piano and drums and additionally loves mountain biking. Dr. Amir believes that his dexterity from playing musical instruments has made him a better dentist!

A much sought-after soloist, Trpeski has worked with a long list of prominent conductors including Lorin Maazel, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Marin Alsop, Gustavo Dudamel, Cristian Mcelaru, Charles Dutoit, Jakob Hrusa, Vladimir Jurowski, Susanna Malkki, Andris Nelsons, Antonio Pappano, Vasily Petrenko, Robert Spano, Michael Tilson Thomas, Gabriel Bebeselea and David Zinman. He has a particularly long-standing relationship with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, further strengthened during the tenure of Vasily Petrenko. Together, they have recorded the monuments of the Russian piano repertoire, all four Rachmaninoff piano concertos as well as the Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, for Avie, the two Tchaikovsky piano concertos, and most recently Prokofiev piano concertos No. 1 and 3 for Onyx Classics.

Tyler Hay was born in 1994 in Kent and began learning the piano at the age of 6. He studied with the Head of Keyboard, Andrew Haigh at Kent Music Academy for three years before gaining a place to study at the Purcell School for Young Musicians in 2007 where he continued under Tessa Nicholson. He completed his studies as an ABRSM scholar at the Royal Northern College of Music in 2016 where he studied with the Head of Keyboard Graham Scott and Professor Frank Wibaut.

Oddly, I only started playing with more dynamic range when it was pointed out to me that frorte really meant strong and piano meant soft. Naturally, strong often includes playing loudly, but somehow I always respond to strong but have remember to play loud. I have seen a few scores where the dynamic is marked loud rather than forte.

Her own piano journey was adventurous and full of unexpected turns: born in the former USSR and trained to become a professional concert pianist from the age of 6, Ilinca never imagined that one day she would teach online, via video tutorials and courses!

At first, PianoCareer.com was about sharing her passion for a holistic lifestyle - something that was missing in the professional musical realm she grew up in. Although playing the piano since childhood, Yuko's career as a piano instructor didn't start until much later. She went back to school and obtained a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Christopher Newport University (Newport News, Virginia, USA) as an adult while raising three small children. During school years, she suffered from arm injury owing to intense piano practice, which led her to research the cause of injury even after graduating from school.

She found the definite solution by meeting Ilinca Vartic (and joining PCA) in 2012. Since then, Yuko's way of perceiving the piano drastically changed course. Consequently, it became her mission to pass Ilinca's teachings, which are based on the Russian piano school, down to her own piano students.

Yuko's mission expanded to teaching Japanese piano instructors when she translated the method books for children based on the Russian piano school, "Tales of a Musical Journey" by Irina Gorin into Japanese language. (Book 1 & 2 and "Handbook for teachers", self-published by the author). Yuko has conducted many seminars to introduce the method books to Japanese teachers. Between 2017 and 2019, she has taught more than 200 piano teachers through her seminars and sold about 1,000 books on her own. At the same time, Yuko continues to inspire piano teachers around the world to disseminate the correct method of piano playing with Irina Gorin.

Aside from conducting seminars, Yuko obtained a performance diploma from ABRSM (DipABRSM), Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, in 2018 as part of her commitment in piano study. She also holds the title of NCTM, Nationally Certified Teacher of Music in Piano, through the Music Teacher's National Association in USA.

Mr. KURTZ: Actually, if you go back into the 15th century, you'll find references to the guitar as the instrument of sin and as a symbol of sexual permissiveness and political subversiveness. The electric guitar, in some sense, revived that image because in the mid-19th century, in the great, sort of, flowing of romanticism, the guitar got sidelined from the mainstream of musical culture when the piano and violin really dominated, and you had performers like Liszt and Paganini. And the guitar couldn't compete in that world, and the great composers of that era didn't write for it. And so it developed these images that's very sweet and mysterious but gentle instrument. So I think it's an instrument that's been, somehow, trapped by its image.
