It starts with the Enterprise flying through space and things so far are peaceful. Inside the bridge it’s the usual routine. Suddenly a TOS Klingon ship comes out of cloak and things go red alert!
<Captain Decker (direct and serious) – Raise shields and ready the phaser banks!>
<M’Ress – Captain? They’re hailing us!>
<Captain Decker (pause for a moment) – Put it on screen.>
On the view-screen is a TOS Klingon who’s the captain. The red alert is still going on and Captain Decker orders it to be turned off.
<Captain Decker (serious and a little annoyed) – Despite giving us a big scare I’m willing to give you a chance to explain yourself to avoid a fire fight.>
<Captain D’owel (considerate) – My apologies, Captain.... Decker?.... but our situation demands that we be extremely careful of not being detected because of our pursuers.>
<Captain Decker – Pursuers?>
<Captain D’owel (serious) – Our fellow Klingons.... because we refuse to take the serum created by J’utrar, and while I find this distasteful, we must ask asylum from the federation.>
Later, Captain D’owel and his second in command beam aboard and the two TOS Klingons are being guided to the meeting room by an officer.
<Captain Decker (not seen but heard) – Captain’s log stardate { }. What started out as the usual routine ended up with the biggest surprise ever. Klingons asking for our help. From what we understand so far, it has to do with J’utrar’s serum that can “restore” the Klingons to their original forms of their ancestors. But it seems that not all Klingons wants this and has become a type of disagreement where the ones who refused had to flee. I of course reported this to starfleet and they have given me permission to discuss this with our guests to see if whether or not the federation will give them the asylum that they ask for.>
At the “phase II” recreation deck of the Enterprise, M’Ress is off duty and trying to cool off because of Klingons being on the ship. Arex, also off duty, sees her and is concerned.
<Arex (concerned) – M’Ress? Are you ok?>
<M’Ress (a little depressed) – Having those Klingons here reminds me of that horrible day and what that monster J’utrar did to some of my people so his people to get back their former glory. It just makes me so angry.>
<Arex (concerned) – Yeah, Tar-rak told me about it. And to make it worse, it was agreed to keep it quiet to avoid a war.>
<M’Ress (a little depressed) – That’s politics for ya. But I will give these Klingons some merit for not taking the serum and they probably don’t even know the origin of it’s making because what’s the point of their big wigs sharing their dirty secrets with the public?>
In the meeting room of the Enterprise, Captain Decker and Xon greet Captain D’owel and his fellow TOS Klingon and second in command Ch’esod.
<Captain Decker (professional) – So, let’s discuss the reason behind you wanting of a asylum from the federation.>
<Captain D’owel – As I said before it has to do with us refusing to take the serum and our brethren disagreeing with that choice. As you probably know, most Klingons these days were born as we are now while what our ancestors were we only knew through historical records. This for us, as we are now, is the normal while what the serum would turn us into is something alien.>
<Ch’esod – My brother took the serum and not only did his appearance changed, but his behaviour. He was aggressive, always wanting to start a fight, while he used to be in control of himself. He was like a different person that was a stranger to me. I saw no glory to this.>
<Captain D’owel – They wouldn’t take no for an answer and even forced those who refused to take it simply because they want this part of our existence to be erased from history. What was left of us managed to escape and I fear that they may go as far as exterminating us while hoping that in time the universe will forget us.>
<Xon (disciplined) – Do you know how the serum was made?>
<Captain D’owel – No. Our leaders simply advertised it as a “miracle of science” while I do know of J’utrar’s reputation and no doubt innocent beings were sacrificed in his experiments to creating it.>
<Ch’esod – But we suspect you do since we do know that you were behind J’utrar’s capture.>
<Captain Decker (mildly uncomfortable) – I’m.... afraid we’re under orders to not say anything about what happened there.>
<Captain D’owel – We understand that it has put you in a difficult situation and we are not judging you, but you are our only hope for survival.>
<Xon (disciplined) – How many are there with you who did not take the serum?>
<Captain D’owel – There’s now only around 200 of us and they are well-hidden for the moment while it was like pure luck that made it possible for that many to escape.>
<Ch’esod – There is also the one who is after us. Have you ever heard of a Klingon named Surpak?>
<Captain Decker – I can’t say I have.>
<Ch’esod – He’s a crazed murderer who we thought was either exterminated or locked away forever.>
<Captain D’owel – It would seem that it was the latter and they are now using him to do things that an honorable Klingon would never do.>
Elsewhere in space, Another TOS Klingon ship is moving about. Inside the bridge, Surpak is looking at himself with a small mirror to see the results of taking the serum that changed him and even feels his forehead. He sits on the captain’s chair while his crew, who also took the serum, are also fugitives who are expected to do the dirty work.
<Hor’ar (annoyed) - How about you spend less time with that stupid mirror and focus more on getting this mission done so we can get our pardons.>
<Surpak (amused) – I can’t help it if I gotten so pretty and can’t resist.>
Hor’ar brings his eyes up in disbelief. A female Klingon named Ovonn is working on the scanners and picks something.
<Ovonn (focused) – Looks like our hunch was right about where the unconverted are, but they have company.>
On their main view-screen they see the other TOS Klingon ship and is being followed by the Enterprise.
<Ovonn (focused) – The registry shows that it’s the Enterprise.>
<Surpak (pleased) – Excellent. With this we will also make good with our reputations.>
<Ovonn (focused) – Kirk doesn’t captain that ship anymore, it’s someone named Decker.>
<Surpak (a bit awkward) – Is he famous for anything?>
<Ovonn (focused) – Well, I never heard of him.>
<Surpak (disappointed) – Fine. (now amused) At least I can kill some people which I haven’t done in a long while.>
The TOS Klingon ship and Enterprise come near a class m planet. Captain D’owel and Ch’esod Ch’esod beam down first from their own ship while a moment later Captain Decker and Xon, as well as Doctor Cronkov and a female Denobulan nurse to give medical care to those that need it, did the same from the Enterprise. They head towards a cave filled with TOS Klingon refugees. There’s “sci-fi” camping gear shown.
<Doctor Cronkov (serious) – Right, time to get busy. Listen up, everyone, anyone who needs medical attention, the way we’ll do this is that the ones in worse condition comes first and we’ll go down the list to the least hurt. Please cooperate to make sure things go smoothly.>
<Captain D’owel – I suspect that you.... suspected.... that this was a trap which is no doubt the reason why you first talked to your Ariolo head of security who probably beamed down somewhere near here.>
Captain Decker reacts as if he has been caught red-handed.
<Captain D’owel – I’m no fool , captain, and neither are you because only an idiot would blindly trust someone who was an enemy. Would you mind if I called my people who are patrolling the area so there won’t be a misunderstanding?>
Elsewhere nearby, some TOS Klingons are aiming their disrupters at Tar-rak and his people who are aiming their phasers back at them. One of the TOS Klingons is talking to his hand-held communicator and is talking to Captain D’owel.
<TOS Klingon with communicator – Yes, sir, we met up with some starfleet soldiers. (a bit awkward) Uh, no, sir, we haven’t yet fired a shot but we are aiming our weapons at each other right now.>
<Captain D’owel (not seen and from communicator) – They’re here to help us so lower your weapons.>
The TOS Klingon with the communicator gives the signal to lower their weapons and Tar-rak and his people do the same.
<Tar-rak – So now that we’re buds....>
<TOS Klingon with communicator (annoyed) – We are not “buds”.>
<Tar-rak (sarcasm) – Yeah, you’re special to me too. (serious) We’re going to need to make sure you have a good defence in case you get the worse kind of guests before we can move you out.>
Another TOS Klingon close by comes running with a message!
<TOS Klingon messenger (a bit out of breath) – Sir! They’re here!>
Through advanced binoculars, they see the “movie” Klingons who are looking for them.
<Tar-rak (not seen and looking though binoculars) – So that’s what you guys used to look like?>
<TOS Klingon with communicator (not seen but heard) – And what they want all Klingons to be or else.>
Tar-rak talks to his wrist communicator.
<Tar-rak (talking into wrist communicator) – Captain? We just spotted some serum changed Klingons.>
Back to Captain Decker.
<Captain Decker (talking into the wrist communicator) – Blast it! Only engage if you have to!>
<Captain D’owel – It would appear that your ship not having a cloaking device has allowed them to find us.>
<Captain Decker – Instead of complaining on what we don’t have we best prepare for an attack with what he do have.>
Captain Decker uses his wrist communicator.
<Captain Decker (serious and talking into the wrist communicator) – Scotty?>
On the bridge of the Enterprise. Scotty is sitting on the Captain’s chair.
<Scotty – Aye, Captain.>
<Captain Decker (not seen and from communicator) – The other Klingons hunting these Klingons are here.>
<Scotty – They maun hae landed their ship while cloaked, since we detected nae energy signatures that beamin’ doon would gie aff. We’ll use the scanners tae dae a sweep tae find their ship, but as ye ken that tak’s a fair bit o’ time, ’cause even though their cloakin’ isnae perfect, it’s pretty guid.>
<Captain Decker (not seen and from communicator) – Do that and send more security people and two containers of phasers because from what they tell me about this Surpak, we may be in for a big fight.>
Five security people and two containers of phasers beam down near the cave. One of the security people opens one of the containers to give phasers to TOS Klingons that are willing to fight but are unarmed. One TOS Klingon looks at the phaser he was given.
<TOS Klingon with phaser (a little annoyed) – To think that I.... a Klingon.... would be using a phaser.>
<Another TOS Klingon with phaser – We must sacrifice a little of our pride if we’re to survive.>
At a somewhat good distance, a “movie” Klingon scout is watching them while making sure he’s well hidden. He takes out his communicator.
<”Movie” Klingon scout (stealthy) – Surpak? I found the targets and they’re residing inside a cave about a mile from here.>
Where Surpak is and Hor’ar and Ovonn, as well as some other “movie” Klingons, are with him. Surpak is using his communicator.
<Surpak (amused) – We’ll be right over.>
Surpak has a big distrupter with him that’s the size of a bazooka.
<Hor’ar (a bit concerned) – Are you sure it’s wise to bring that super-distrupter?>
<Surpak (a bit crazed amused) – The bigger the bang the greater the fun! (now laughs)>
The “movie” Klingons start to head towards where the TOS Klingons are.
<Surpak (a bit crazed amused) – You know, there was a time that I thought I had no restraints, but with the new me, I realize the old me was a pale reflection of what I am now.>
Out of Surpak’s hearing range, Hor’ar and Ovonn talk.
<Ovonn (concerned and low tone) – He’s completely a psychopath.>
< Hor’ar (concerned and low tone) – Meaning that we’re probably in as much danger as our prey.>
Back to the TOS Klingon cave/camp. They’re prepared for an attack and suddenly a powerful blast comes out of no where! The “movie” Klingons attack with their disrupters and some of them have a bat'leth.
<Surpak (crazed amused and loud) - Qatlh!
<TOS Klingon soldier (direct and fighting) – Sir?>
<Captain D’owel (fighting) – I see it! They’re using the bat'leth which has never been seen being used until now, but my concern is that super-distruper that’s in the hands of that maniac!>
Proving Captain D’owel right, Surpak goes crazy with his weapon and even blast a “movie” Klingon and TOS Klingon fighting each other and having them both flying! That he only cares about wiping out the TOS Klingons while his fellow “movie” Klingons are just in the way!
<Hor’ar (in utter disbelief) – What are you doing?!! Those are our own people!>
<Surpak (crazed and annoyed) – Spare me the false nobility! The reason the empire has us doing this is because we’re scum looking out for ourselves! We’re all going to Gre'thor no matter what, so we might as well have fun while we can! And if our side gets in the way of my big gun, then boo-hoo for them!>
The crazed Surpal continues to fire his super-disrupter while laughing like a madman! Back on the Enterprise, Zaand is working at Xon’s station to find the landed and cloaked TOS Klingon ship that the “movie” Klingons used.
<Zaand (focused) – Sir? I.... think..... I found the cloaked vessel.>
The main view-screen shows a somewhat blurry figure on the planet.
<Scotty (in charge) – We might as well fire a phaser at that bit tae see if ye guessed richt.>
The Enterprise fires a phaser and hits the now uncloaking TOS Klingon ship because of damage! Inside the Klingon ship are “movie” Klingons panicking because the ship’s systems are out of whack and exploding and also there are fires!
<Scotty (pleased) – That’ll fair ruin their day, eh!>
Back to the fight below! A “movie” Klingon is about to stab Captain D’owel with a bat'leth until Captain Decker shoots him with a phaser! Decker helps D’owel get up and both of them start firing at the enemies! Tar-rak ploys through some “movie” Klingons like a crazed horse with arms and fires his two phasers! Surpak is still firing his super-disrupter like a lunatic with a maniacal laughter!
<Surpak (loud, amused and crazy) – Don’t you idiots get it! You’re no longer Klingons! You’re no longer ANYTHING which is why you have no right to exist! So die like the nothings you are!>
Suddenly an injured and extremely determined Ch’esod stabs Surpak though the chest with a bat'leth that he found!
<Ch’esod (injured, determined and loud) Hegh!!!!>
Ch’esod succumbs to his injury and falls the the ground to die. Surpak drops his super-disrupter because he no longer has the strength to hold it as he looks at the bat'leth stuck on his chest.
<Surpak (dying) – Huh. They got me good. Did you see that, Ovonn?>
The dying Surpak sees that Ovonn is on the ground and is dead.
<Surpak (dying) – Oh. I didn’t noticed you were dead.>
Surpak falls to the ground to die. Hor’ar gives the order to surrender and says enough of this madness and quietly wishes the TOS Klingons luck. There are bodies of both “movie” and TOS Klingons on the ground and Doctor Cronkov and his medical assistants try their best to save everyone. Captain D’owel looks at the aftermath of the battle and looks displeased. Captain Decker enters the scene to talk to D’owel.
<Captain Decker - Captain D’owel? Listen. Xon and I have been talking to the federation and there’s a human colony who’s willing to take you and your people in but it would be something like a witness protection plan and I’m sure you can blend in.>
<Captain D’owel (mildly annoyed) – So you expect us to hide and stop being Klingons?>
<Captain Decker (angry) – Dammit, captain, that has already happened! You need to except the fact that the majority of your people has excepted the serum and that your leaders were willing to send someone like Surpak to exterminate you while acting ignorant! That they don’t just want you to leave and not be seen again, they want you to cease to exist and rewrite history where you never existed to begin with! They are ashamed of you! (becomes calm) I understand how hard this is and I would probably no doubt be just a reluctant if it came to pretending I wasn’t human when it comes to one’s heritage, but your numbers has gotten smaller and you need the means to allow the survivors to live on.>
<Captain D’owel (mildly disappointed) – I take it that means we leave our ship?>
<Captain Decker – And your disrupters and clothing. Anything that would indicate that you’re Klingons if this is going to work.>
Captain D’owel looks like he hates the fact that he agrees with Captain Decker simply because he has no choice. The Enterprise is now travelling in space. Captain Decker and Xon are walking together in a hallway.
<Xon (disciplined) – We have already set up new identities for our “guests” and now heading for the planet which we will not mention for security purposes.>
<Captain Decker – And I already erased any logs connected to this. I sure hope this will work.>
<Xon (disciplined) – It is the only way we can help them while keeping the Organian peace treaty intact. Deception, I am afraid, is logical.>
<Captain Decker – And deception is what they will have to live with for them and their children yet to come.>
