The Enterprise flies around the planet Vulcan. Xon is having a meeting with Vulcan officials and seems a little displeased that a Vulcan can be. They show him “documents” and evidence that his bond-mate who died in a tragic accident a couple years ago was a Romulan spy.
<Xon (disciplined but a little upset) - Are you sure this is correct?>
<Vulcan official #1 (disciplined) – I am afraid that the evidence represents a undeniable truth. Your bond-mate T’me was a Romulan spy, but we do not know what exactly her mission was and why she involved you before the accident that took her life.>
<Xon (disciplined but a little upset) – T’me was part of records management which some of them could have been sensitive information that her position would of given her access to or an opening to sneak into. Perhaps being with me created a sight of normalcy that would draw attention away from her.>
<Vulcan official #2 (disciplined) – There is also the matter that she had a sister named V’sok who has gone missing. Logically she is no doubt on the run and trying to find a means to reach the neutral zone.>
Xon (disciplined and determined) – Then she must be stopped for there are questions she must answer.>
At the sickbay of the Enterprise, Doctor Cronkov is having a conversation with one of the medical assistants.
<Medical assistant – I overheard that the Vulcans have a Romulan spy problem.>
< Doctor Cronkov - Well the thing about Romulans is that we now know that they used to be Vulcans and medical procedures can easily disguise the slight differences because of their similar biology and there’s also a theory that going through the same hard training can allow a Romulan to mind meld and stuff if they’re disciplined enough.>
The Enterprise goes into warp. Inside the bridge.
<Captain Decker – So what we have is a Romulan spy on the run.>
<Xon (disciplined) – Yes, but I’m afraid the only information I have about V’sok is a.... fabrication.... and it is likely that she is a complete stranger to me. But what we do know is that her means of escape are limited which is no doubt why she left at short notice under false pretense. She had no time to prepare and the Romulans wouldn’t be able get to her on time. She would have to rely on outside sources.>
Elsewhere, V’sok lands her shuttle-craft on a planet with a “space-western” small town that has the black market for smuggling. The planet is called Trycupa. She leaves the ship and heads for a bar. She meets a group of Nausicaans sitting at a booth who was waiting for her.
<Captain Toulon – You must be the Vulcan who’s actually a Romulan, since you stand out simply because we usually don’t see your kind here.>
<V’sok (sarcasm) – Can’t see why since this place is so charming.>
<Captain Toulon (amused) – It’s a dump. (now serious) We already have half the payment from your people and will get the rest once they come to get you.>
<V’sok (upset) – Get me? But I need....!>
<Captain Toulon (serious) – To be out of here in a hurry? That way will definitely get you captured since very important people who’s race is one of the founding members of the federation are after you and starfleet has plenty of resources that are now being used to get you. Already they’re blocking the way to the Romulan neutral zone in every way possible because it doesn’t take a genius to know where you’re going and us smuggling you isn’t going to do it and even your buddies know it. Right now I have people in different areas of the galaxy spreading rumors that you have been spotted on Axton to give your people with their fancy cloaking device time to get here. So for now, you’re in hiding until then.>
NOTE: The Axton mentioned is “Old Axton” mentioned in Star Trek: Lower Decks.
On the bridge of the Enterprise.
<Captain Decker – Are you sure about this, Xon?>
Xon (disciplined) - Despite the so called sightings, chances are V’sok is not going to Axton with a bounty on her provided by the federation and the fact that the planet is well known to having bounty hunters. She would seek better alternatives like Trycupa who is rumored to having a smuggling business.>
<Captain Decker – Well, since starfleet is already sending a ship to Axton, there’s no reason we can’t test your theory just in case your logic is correct.>
The Enterprise is flying through space and heading towards the Trycupa planet.
<Captain Decker (not seen but heard) – Captain’s log stardate { }. We have now arrived at Trycupa in hopes to finding the runaway V’sok. Despite not being Axton, it does have it’s own dangerous characters doing illegal stuff there and it’s best we’re prepared for a possible shootout when we reveal ourselves.>
Captain Decker, Xon and a few security officers beam down. They’re sure to be quiet and stay out of sight. They see the “space western” small town. Through advanced binoculars Captain Decker sees some Nausicaans with guns that act like they’re guarding something.
<Captain Decker (low tone) – They do seem to be guarding something very important.>
<Xon (disciplined and low tone while using a tricorder) – And they have equipment that blocks the Enterprise’s scanning capabilities as if they are also hiding something.>
<Captain Decker (concern and low tone) – So how are you doing?>
<Xon (disciplined, low tone and slightly unconformable) I will admit that I do find it a bit.... disturbing.... that T’me turned out to being someone I never expected.>
<Captain Decker (concern and low tone) – What you’re experiencing is....>
<Xon (disciplined and low tone) – Human?>
<Captain Decker (concern and low tone) – Natural. Despite what some may think, humans are not the center of the universe. (self-disappointment) Also, I’m not the one who should give advice about relationships since there was this lady that I left on Delta IV and I was stupid enough to leave without even saying goodbye.>
A security officer carefully comes to Captain Decker.
<Security officer (low tone) – Sir? The Enterprise has finished the calculations and are ready for your order.>
Captain Decker focuses on his wrist communicator.
<Captain Decker (talks into the wrist communicator and low tone) – Ok, Enterprise, let’s cause some chaos.>
In the bridge the lady working the weapons console creates some targets near the “hidden” area. The Enterprise fires it’s phasers downward and the Nausicaans are caught surprised by this and panic happens! Captain Toulon comes out and gives out the order to prepare yourself while a annoyed and disappointed V’sok watches inside. She knows she has to be ready for “guests”. Captain Decker and the others take the advantage and fire their “set on stun” phasers at the surprised Nausicaans! The remaining Nausicaans fire back and it ends up looking like a western shootout! Xon manages to sneak in the building and is met with V’sok who’s pointing a weapon at him.
<V’sok (amused) – Hello, “brother in law”.>
<Xon (disciplined) – V’sok. Though of course that is not really your true name.>
<V’sok (amused) – It’s Vemek, but you can call me V’sok for old time’s sake.>
<Xon (disciplined) – No, I believe there is no point continuing with the deceiving.>
<V’sok (sarcasm and a little annoyed) – You always were the fun of the party.>
<Xon (disciplined) – Why the spying on Vulcan? Despite our connection, we have nothing of value to the Romulans since it was agreed that the Vulcans would hold no sensitive secrets that would greatly endanger the federation because of our inability to lie.>
<V’sok (amused) - Inability to lie? Please, you been lying to yourself for thousands of years ever since your ancestors fell for Surak’s Time of Awakening scam which wasn’t really based on logic and reason but seeing things in black and white while calling it enlightenment which is why it was so easy for my sister and I to infiltrate your society with fake identities, which was embarrassing since we weren’t even close to being the first to do it which obviously you didn’t know.>
<Xon (disciplined) – Then T’me was really your sister?>
<V’sok (amused) – Adding some truth can make a lie seem more true.>
<Xon (disciplined) – But you still have not answered my question. Why do this?>
<V’sok (serious) – To take back what was taken from us. Our ancestors were forced to leave because they chose to reject Surak's teachings since the Time of Awakening wasn’t a chose but an ultimatum.>
<Xon (disciplined) – They also chose to use atomic weapons.>
<V’sok (annoyed) – Don’t act morally superior. Surak’s great accomplishments had to come at a great cost from others. Have you ever wondered how cold pure logic can be when it comes to people’s lives? When things like compassion aren’t there to restrain your decisions while it was said that Surak was ruthless with his logic, while “seemly” not cruel, and intolerant to emotion. He would seek peace because of logic and probably firmly believed in “the needs of the many outweighed the needs of the few” saying and perhaps saw the bombs as a means to get the unbelievers to believe through fear because of logic.>
Outside the shooting continues while Captain Decker manages to sneak into the place. Back inside.
<Xon (disciplined but a little nervous) – You.... do not know that.>
<V’sok (amused) – You worship Surak like a perfect god because you’re so afraid of knowing him as a person while his katra and Kir'Shara were mostly used to glorify him.>
Captain Decker is sneaking behind V’sok.
<Xon (disciplined but a little nervous) - Surak wanted Vulcans to master their emotions, not purge them.>
<V’sok (amused) – And how would you know? We’re talking about someone who died long before anyone on Vulcan was born which makes him more of a story that can be edited then an actual being.>
The conservation is interrupted with a phaser pointed at V’sok because of Captain Decker.
<Captain Decker (serious) – How about we have this talk somewhere else. Like inside the brig of our ship.>
V’sok shows her training and quickly knocks Captain Decker onto the floor! She makes a run for it while Xon goes for his phaser on the floor! She’s now outside while Captain Decker and Xon fire at her and miss! Captain Toulon sees her and seems displeased.
<Captain Toulon (upset) – You idiot! Don’t run out of the scrambler’s range!>
A phaser hits Captain Toulon from behind and stuns him! He starts to fall!
<Captain Toulon (dazed and losing conscious) – Blast it.... Now I’ll have to give them a refund.)
V’sok continues to run out of the “space western” small town and her leg gets hit with a phaser on stun and falls! She looks at her hand and realizes she being teleported because the Enterprise can now detect her!
<V’sok (loud and being teleported) – No!!!>
<V’sok beams into the teleporter room of the Enterprise with Tar-rak and two security guards have been waiting for her. The teo security guards pick her up while Tar-rak takes a small round object off her which she didn’t know was on her.
<Tar-rak (amused) – What’s great about this little thing is that it makes it easier to lock into people.>
Back on the planet.
<Captain Decker – The little tracker worked like a charm.>
<Xon (disciplined) – Captain. It would be prudent that we leave now since V’sok was no doubt waiting for a Romulan ship since the Nausicaans remained here instead of taking her to her destination themselves.>
Captain Decker talks to his wrist communicator and tells everyone to leave the area so they can be beamed back to the ship. Back on the bridge, Captain Decker sits on his chair while Xon goes to his post.
<Captain Decker (in charge) – Ok, people! Let’s get mov....!
<Arex (direct) – Captain! Romulan ship spotted!>
<Captain Decker (direct) – Raise shields!>
A TOS Romulan ships comes out of cloak and head towards the Enterprise. Instead of contacting them, the TOS Romulan ship attacks them. Inside the bridge the hits are “felt”.
<Xon (disciplined and direct) – It would appear, Captain, that they plan to sacrifice V’sok now that she is our captive!>
<Captain Decker (direct) – Return fire!>
For a while the Enterprise and TOS Romulan fires at each other until the enemy ship explodes!
<Captain Decker – You know, it does seem that we been testing the Enterprise’s new weapons system more then I would like.>
<Xon (disciplined) – Despite them being meant for defence, and that has been the reason so far, it is undesirable.>
At the brig where V’sok is being held, Xon pays a visit.
<V’sok (curious) – So, “brother in law”, have you given any thought about what we talked about?>
<Xon (disciplined) - V’sok.... Vemek.... I am well aware that Vulcan society is not perfect and there have been bad moments in our history, and even if Surak saw the bombs as a means to an end, it does not change the fact that he had nothing to do with the destruction nor would he been able to stop it. As for the other things, if Surak did do questionable things, we follow his teachings based on our own beliefs on how to proceed when it comes to logic and perhaps the reason we helped found the federation is to be reminded that we are flawed beings who can make mistakes even with our logic. Quiet the opposite of you Romulans who conquer those who are not your kind based on xenophobic attitude.>
<V’sok (mildly annoyed) – Yeah, whatever.>
Xon is about to leave.
<Xon (disciplined but concerned) – About the accident?>
<V’sok (amused) – What? Were you hoping that maybe “T’me” was maybe falling for you and was willing to betray her mission? That it wasn’t an accident but me taking her down because of it? Sorry, but she was merely at the wrong place at the wrong time. It really was an accident.>
Xon walks away and the Enterprise flies through space.
