The Enterprise is at a halt in space.
<Captain Decker (not seen but heard) – Captain’s log stardate { }. I would seem that we overdid it with the impulse engine while trying to escape from blue space and is now shut down so Scotty and his people can fix it while he also wants to check the prototype upgrades to see if there’s any glitches that would need to be dealt with. Since we have a supply delivery to make to Federation Deep Space Station K-85, I sent three of my crew to take the Copernicus type shuttle-craft to make the journey.>
the Copernicus type shuttle-craft is seen moving at warp. Inside is Arex, M’Ress and Zaand with Arex driving.
<Arex (curious) – So the males and females of your species look the same?>
<Zaand – Yes and is the reason why our females chose to wear the headbands. They don’t like to be mistaken for males.>
<Arex – Sorry about that.>
<Zaand – No need. In fact, to my point of view your genders looking so different seems strange.>
<Arex – Well, it seems that we’re near our destination.>
The Copernicus type shuttle-craft comes out of warp and heads towards Federation Deep Space Station K-85.
<Arex (talking into the communicator) - Space Station K-85? We’re here to deliver the supplies that you ordered and are now sending the security codes.>
A Arcturian is shown on the small view-screen.
<Tacskut (from view-screen and a bit nervous) – Security codes received and verify. We were expecting the Enterprise.>
<Arex – The old girl had some impulse engine trouble but luckily we were close enough to use the shuttle-craft to transfer your stuff.>
<Tacskut (from view-screen and a bit nervous) – Ok then, we’ll open the hanger and let you in.>
<M’Ress (mildly suspicious) – Didn’t he sound a bit nervous there?>
<Arex – Maybe they have an inspection coming up. I mean those inspectors can be really strict at times.>
The Copernicus type shuttle-craft enters the hanger and lands. When the three come out, they notice that no one is around to meet them.
<Zaand (a little confused) – I thought there would be people to meet us and help with the moving of the supplies.>
<M’Ress (a little suspicious) – This feels like the making of a bad sign.>
M’Ress smells something that makes her very scared!
<M’Ress (scared) – Oh’ no!>
A group of Kzinti with stun guns come out of hiding! They surround the three who are shocked by this!
<Kzinti leader (deadly serious) – Don’t move if you value your worthless lives.>
Kzinti leader notices the nervous M’Ress and seems pleased. He walks towards M’Ress and takes hold of her chin while she’s being reluctant.
<Kzinti leader (pleased) – It seems that we have a traitor-kind here which we should perhaps arrest along with the Vendorian fugitive.>
<Arex (concerned) - Vendorian fugitive?>
<Kzinti leader (serious) – A Vendorian spy, probably an outcast based on their weird culture, that we discovered and the trial led to here with it’s stolen ship. Now the problem here is that not only is it’s kind good at shape-shifting, but also at hiding it’s scent, and we need it alive since they usually work for someone when it comes to spying. (looks at M’Ress) But of coarse a Caitian doesn’t have to do anything to become a criminal, simply existing is more then enough.>
The armed Kzinti take the three to the other “hostages” guarded by another armed Kzinti. There’s a group being held against their will. Tacskut, the Arcturian is there, as well as a Saurian and both have starfleet uniforms, also there are civilians passing by or something like a Zaranite with a breathing mask, Rigellian, two Megarites, a Kazarite, Betelgeusian and a fashion designer who’s a Aaamazzarite.

In other areas, like a bar for example, has people, none of them human, being held by armed Kzinti who suspect one of them being the Vendorian while the problem is that there’s so many people in this space station.
<Tacskut (outraged and a bit nervous) – You have no right to do this! If the federation and starfleet find out....!
<Kzinti leader (deadly serious) – They will not find out if there is no evidence to begin with! Once we find our fugitive we will make sure no one here will be around to talk thanks to an accident that will eventually happen.>
<Tacskut (scared and in disbelief) – But....!>
<Kzinti leader (deadly serious and amused) – Allow me to give you some advice. The universe isn’t about good or evil or right or wrong. It’s about those who are on the table and those who eat what’s on the table (gets close to the scared Tacskut) and we both know that you’re not the one doing the eating.>
The Kzinti leader starts to leave the room.
<Kzinti leader (in charge) – Watch them and be aware of anything suspicious coming from them.>
<One of the Kzinti soldiers (a bit disappointed) – Shame that there’s not a human here in the station. I heard that they’re quite tasty.>
The Rigellian and Saurian look at each other.
<Rigellian (a little worried) – You wouldn’t be the Vendorian, would ya?>
<Saurian (a little worried) – No, you?>
<Rigellian (a little suspicious) – That’s probably what a Vendorian would say.>
<Saurian (in disbelief) – What? But you said it first!>
Elsewhere in the space station, a small alien-like snake is moving about until it reaches an area with no one around and changes into another form which is a Kzinti. The fake Kzinti looks around and walks away. The fake Kzinti halts when two real Kzinti pass by.
<Kzinti #1 (annoyed) – I can’t see why we can’t kill everyone here and be done with it.>
<Kzinti #2 – Because one of them could be the Vendorian and it can’t tell us who hired it if it’s dead.>
Back to where M’Ress and the others are. M’Ress looks at the Kzinti guard.
<M’Ress (curious) – So why would anyone send a Vendorian spy to you Kzinti? Like what exactly would you have that would make someone do such a thing?>
<Kzinti guard (annoyed) – Be silence, traitor-kind.>
<Aaamazzarite fashion designer (a bit amused) – It’s actually a very good question. And pretty much everyone knows that the Treaty of Sirius prevents your kind from becoming as much as a threat as the Romulans and Klingons.>
<M’Ress (a bit amused) – Not to mention that they have broken the treaty before despite plausible denial and have really gotten into archaeology which has nothing to do with the interest in history. (self-assertive) So what did you find and was it something so good that you didn’t want anyone to find out about it?>
<Kzinti guard (angry and gets close to M’Ress) – You think we’re the only ones with secrets?! What would your “friends” here think if they knew that the Caitians used to be Kzinti!>
<Arex – And that’s why you call her traitor-kind because of the fear of one day becoming like the Caitians because their existence are proof that it could happen. Though I’m also betting that their females who aren’t “dumb animals” are just as threatening to you.>
<Megarite #1 (song-like sounds and translation) – Caitians were really Kzinti?>
<Megarite #2 (song-like sounds and translation) – Yes, about a thousand years ago I think.>
<M’Ress (self-assertive) – By the way, you gotten too close.>
The Kzinti guard is at first confused until M’Ress kicks him and grabs his dropped stun gun with cat-like agility and shoots at him but only hits his arm! The other act and try to restrained the strong Kzinti while he knocks off the Zaranite’s breathing mask during the struggle! The Zaranite starts to suffocate and someone yells to get his breathing mask back! Zaand quickly gets the breathing mask and puts it back on the lying on the floor Zaranite! M’Ress shoots the Kzinti guard one more time and this time he’s out cold! The Aaamazzarite fashion designer volunteers to stay with the recovering Zaranite. M’Ress throws the stun gun to Arax.
<M’Ress (gives Arex the stun gun) – Here! This for now is our only gun and you’re a much better shot then me!>
Elsewhere, the fake Kzinti is roaming around looking for a way to get out of this station. A real Kzinti notices him and finds him suspicious. The real Kzinti walks to the fake Kzinti.
<Real Kzinti (suspicious and determined) – You! Present your card and say the code words to prove you are you!>
The fake Kzinti’s hand turns into a Vendorian tentacle and it uses it’s ability to knock someone unconscious with touch alone. The fake Kzinti does a mild version of a Vendorian ability to absorb memory, emotion and attitudes by touching the real Kzinti with the same tentacle to see the most recent memories where the Kzinti leader orders the starfleet shuttle-craft to be left alone for some reason. The fake Kzinti looks like he’s doing some thinking as if he has a plan. Elsewhere in the station, the “good guys” have taken down two more Kzinti and gained two more stun guns.
<Arex (serious) – We been lucky so far by taking them by surprise but it’s not going to last.>
<Tacskut (serious) – We need to get to the main control room and try to send out an SOS and hope that someone from starfleet gets it.>
The group quietly moves about in the hallways until they spot another Kzinti and they try to hide but the Kzinti catches their scent and gets feral! Arex manages to shoot the Kzinti’s stun gun away but it doesn’t stop the crazed beast from attacking with a leap with cat-like agility! The others with stun guns start firing and luckily takes down the Kzinti who’s crazed state made it really hard!
<Arex (a little tired) – I’m starting to wish that the Kzinti were allowed more then just stun guns since we’re using their stuff.>
<Tacskut (a little tired) – The humans had a very good reason to force the Treaty of Sirius on them because there’s nothing more ferocious and merciless then a Kzinti.>
They finally reached the main control room and managed to carefully take down the two Kzinti by surprise with the stun guns. Tacskut and the Saurian work on the controls to communicate and get the base’s defences up. Zaand volunteers to help and the two welcome it.
<Zaand (focused) – I am making an attempt to contact the Enterprise since we know she’s the closest starfleet ship available.>
<The Saurian (amused) – And while you do that, Tacskut and I are going to see if the Kzinti are tough enough to take on the base’s defence weapons.>
<Tacskut (amused) – Yeah, let’s see how bad-ass they really are.>
In certain places of the base, phaser torrents come out of their hidden housing and start firing at the surprised Kzinti while avoiding the civilians! There is of course a panic while the fake Kzinti realizes it’s form would make it a target so it takes the form of a unnamed alien female that’s similar to the one from Star Trek III: The Search for Spock of the bar scene and mingles with the panicking crowd! Maybe call it a ‘Kimryu’ after the actor who played it.

Back in the main control room, Tacskut is telling the crowd to go to the emergency safe rooms and to stay calm and cooperate. He notices through the security feed the fake Kimryu going somewhere else which seems suspicious.
<Tacskut (suspicious) – Where is she going?>
<The Saurian – Who?>
<Tacskut (suspicious) – The Kimryu woman. She just left the crowd while looking more focused then scared. As if she had a plan or something.>
<The Saurian (curious) – You don’t think it’s the Vendorian?>
Arex overhears them.
<Arex (serious) – This “Kimryu”. Where do you think she’s going?>
<Tacskut (focused) – Based on the direction and the fact that if I was the Vendorian I would want to get off this base, I would say the hanger which you guys parked your shuttle-craft in.>
Arex is prepared to leave.
<Arex (serious) – M’Ress? You and the others guard the place while I go meet up with our mysterios guest.>
<M’Ress (mildly surprised) Wait! What?!>
At the hanger with the Copernicus type shuttle-craft, the fake Kimryu looks around to see if anyone is here then heads towards the shuttle-craft. It manages to open the back of the shuttle-craft and is about to enter until it’s caught by surprise by a stun gun! The shock makes the fake Kimryu revert to it’s true Vendorian form as it collapse! The laughter from the Kzinti leader is heard inside the shuttle-craft as if he was waiting for the Vendorian. The Kzinti leader gets out of the ship and heads towards the barely conscious Vendorian.
<Kzinti leader (pleased and amused) – The best way to get someone who can look like anyone is to created the kind of bait that it has no choice but to go for. (puts his foot on the weaken Vendorian’s head) It was obvious that your goal had to be to getting out of here and all I had to do was wait and now you’re going to tell me who hired you because there’s no reason for a Vendorian to be doing this for itself. (being cruel) So who hired you?>
<Vendorian (weaken) – Sorry, but I’m under contract to not reveal that.>
<Kzinti leader (getting angry) – Then you better break it before I break you.>
<Vendorian (weaken and amused) – Did you really think that after the Slaver weapon incident that others wouldn’t have found out? That you wouldn’t end up with competition for a technology more advanced then what anyone knows today? The reason you Kzinti are so obsessed with Slaver technology is because it would allow you to dominate the universe and we now know that you have found more types of their technology that you kept secret and it’s perhaps only a matter of time before you find another powerful weapon and you thought others would look the other way? I have to thank people like you for giving my order a lot of business.>
<Kzinti leader (angry) – Yeah? Well consider yourself out of business!>
The Kzinti leader stomps the head of the Vendorian’s head so hard with his foot that he kills it!
<Kzinti leader (angry at himself) – Blast it! Like an idiot I lost my temper and killed it before it could tell me who was the client! How am I going to explain this to the Highest of Kzin?>
The Kzinti leader hears something and dunks when Arex fires his stun gun! Arex manages to hit the Kzinti leader’s shoulder which makes him get feral.
<Kzinti leader (feral anger and growling voice) – Hello my latest feast!>
Arex keeps firing the stun gun at the Kzinti leader who’s feral rage makes it hard to put him down! With each hit the Kzinti leader gets weaker but it’s still not enough to make him less of a threat! He finally reaches Arex and knocks away the stun gun and grabs Arex and is about to tear him apart with his tech until M’Ress comes from behind and bites the Kzinti leader in the neck! The Kzinti leader desperately tries to get M’Ress off him while Arex goes for the stun gun! Arex uses the stun gun on the Kzinti leader at very close range until he falls unconscious! M’Ress in on the floor.
<M’Ress (angry) – Arex?! You NEVER go against a Kzinti alone! Even the humans know this after having four wars with these psychopaths!>
<Arex (humbled) – Yeah. That was pretty stupid on my part.>
M’ress walks towards the back entrance of the Copernicus type shuttle-craft.
<M’Ress (upset) – I’m going to get the phasers that we have in the hidden compartment and we can deal with the rest of the Kzinti.>
<Tacskut (not seen and from speaker) – Good news, people! We managed to get all of the Kzinti!>
<M’Ress (upset) – Yeah, well, I’m still getting one just to feel safe.>
Later, the Enterprise has already arrived at the station and the Kzinti prisoners are in high grade restraints which includes their mouths since the normal kind wouldn’t be enough. The Zaranite is taken to get medical care as well as the body of the dead Vendorian.
<Captain Decker (not seen but heard) – Captain’s log supplemental. I can’t help but think if we never had engine problems with the Enterprise then things would have settled much better, but I am glad that my crew members and the people inside the station weren’t harmed because of circumstances with the Kzinti looking for the Vendorian and the information it may of had from what Ensign Zaand told me. While the Kzinti government will no doubt deny any involvement with this, and it wouldn’t be the first time, but this does bring many questions on why there was a need for a Vendorian to spy on them and them so desperately going after it without caring about the consequences. Something big is going on but I’ll let the federation deal with it while I send them the report.>
Elsewhere on a planet light years away. A Vendorian is walking through the caverns of a cave and meets with another Vendorian. There are other Vendorians nearby.
<Vendorian messenger – We have received an encrypted subspace message from the spy who believed failure to return was possibly unavoidable while the message does have the report on what our clients wanted.>
<Vendorian leader – Then it wasn’t a failure if we have the information and the spy will be remembered for that. Contact the clients to deliver the data and receive the payment for it.>
The Vendorian messenger leaves while the Vendorian leader looks at the other Vendorians.
<Vendorian leader (inspiring) – Our own kind called us non-producers and made us outcasts until the one who named himself “Carter Winston” had shown us that we are anything but useless. We are the perfect spies not because of our shape-shifting but our ability to absorb the memory, emotion and attitudes of another’s form that allows us knowledge which makes us superb actors. Those who look down on us can have that mud-ball that we call Vendor Prime for we have the whole universe to play with and even though both the Romulan Empire and Federation are not allowed to use us, there are plenty of potential clients out there demanding our services and giving us value to our existence.>
