PGL Tri-Annual at Lodge Garthland St. Winnoch No.205

The Tri-Annual meeting of PGLRE was held at Lodge Garthland St. Winnoch No.206 on 29th April with a large attendance of Brethren from all over the Province.

After welcoming Brethren and inviting Bro. Grham Hay RWM of the host Lodge to join him in the East, RWPGM Bro. Ronald E. Fraser turned to the sad business of obituaries.

Eulogies were given on behalf of Bro. Pastor William Shirlaw who served for 36 years as PG Chaplain and was a PM of Lodge St. Christopher No.1453; Bro. John Mair PM of Lodge Garthland St. Winnoch No.205, and Bro. Edward Murray PM of Lodge St. John Busby No. 458. A minutes’ silence was then observed.

RWPGM Bro. Ronald E. Fraser then updated Brethren regarding the forthcoming amalgamations of Lodge St. John Busby No.458 with Lodge Eaglesham No.1265 and Lodge Moorpark No. 1263 with Lodge The Royal Stuart No.1414.

The amalgamated Lodges will respectively become Lodge Busby St. John Eaglesham No. 458 and The Renfrewshire Lodge of Shieldhall No. 1263.

The PGM explained what the amalgamations involved and said that they would leave the Province in a stronger position with 35 Lodges all in a robust condition.

He also advised Brethren that Grand Lodge was in the process of a full IT upgrade that would come into effect in the months and years ahead.

SPGM Bro. Scott Bogle then installed Bro. Colin Williamson RWM of Lodge Georgetown No. 1170 as Provincial Grand Steward.

Reports on forthcoming bowling and golf tournaments were given by PSPGM Bro. William Fleming and SPGM Bro. Scott Bogle with the first up being an open bowling tournament in support of Prostate Scotland to be held at Wellmeadow Bowling Club, Paisley, on 8th June.
