Seventy years a Freemason

Seventy years a Freemason

Bro. Dougles Wood took centre stage at Lodge Nitshill No.1478 on Monday, 13th May, when he celebrated 70 years as a Freemason.

More than 80 Brethren from within and outwith the Province of Renfrewshie East were in attendance to see Bro. Dougie presented with his 70-year certificate and jewel by RWPGM Bro. Ronald E. Fraser along with the RWM of Lodge Nitshill, Bro. George Colvan.

The PGM commented on the rarity of the opportunity to present a 70th certificate. He recalled that Bro. Dougie had been initiated in April 1954 as a Lewis.

Although his work in the Army and police restricted the amount of time he could devote to Freemasonry, Bro. Dougie had become RWM in 2008 and served for many years as Lodge Almoner.

In his reply, Bro. Dougie made a special point of thanking the large number of Brethren who had turned up for the occasion.

The presentation was followed by an exemplary FC Degree carried out in excellent fashion by Lodge Ballater No. 1432 headed by their RWM Bro. James S. Sinclair.
