About

Pet Pals is an AR (Augmented Reality) pet therapy solution made in the Unity engine for ARCore compatible devices. Pet Pals is intended to act as a mobile therapy solution by giving users who are unable to own or care for a real pet the opportunity to have a virtual pet to play with to relieve stress and anxiety. The intended audience for this project is college students who live in dorms and are unable to own pets. Many of these college students face massive amounts of stress and anxiety throughout their education, so it is imperative that they take care of their mental health to ensure a positive quality of life. Currently, user selection is limited to a pet penguin that the user can either play fetch with, give treats to, or give toys to play around with. The more the user interacts with their pet penguin, the more affection they shall receive from it.
