Peter West
History of Philosophy
About Me
I am an Assistant Professor in Philosophy at Northeastern University London. Previously, I was a Teaching Fellow at Durham University and completed my PhD at Trinity College Dublin.
I work in two areas of philosophy's history: Early Modern Philosophy and Early Analytic Philosophy.
My Early Modern work broadly focus on the mind and mental representation in figures such as George Berkeley, Margaret Cavendish, Anton Wilhelm Amo, and Mary Shepherd.
My Early Analytic work is British Academy/ Leverhulme funded and focuses on a generation of women at the dawn of analytic philosophy, including Susan Stebbing, Dorothy Emmet, and Margaret Macdonald.
My work is underlied by a commitment to expanding the canon of philosophy's history, and recovering the work of often marginalised figures.
