Peter West
History of Philosophy
About Me
I am an Assistant Professor in Philosophy at Northeastern University London. Previously, I was a Teaching Fellow at Durham University and completed my PhD at Trinity College Dublin.
I work in two areas of philosophy's history: Early Modern Philosophy and Early Analytic Philosophy.
My Early Analytic work is British Academy/ Leverhulme funded and focuses on a generation of women at the dawn of analytic philosophy, including Susan Stebbing, Dorothy Emmet, and Margaret Macdonald.
My Early Modern work covers a range of figures including Margaret Cavendish, Anton Wilhelm Amo, Mary Shepherd, and George Berkeley - and topics including the mind and mental representation, space and time, perception, and environmental ethics.
My work is underlied by a commitment to expanding the canon of philosophy's history, and recovering the work of marginalised figures.
