The Relief Society Presidency is excited to start something new this year - discussions on how to better engage in prayer and scripture study. Listen as Sister Clements explains this new initiative:

I’ve been feeling a lot of despair and anxiety about how things are going in the world! In addition to civil unrest in our country, wildfires, the pandemic, the refugee crisis, etc. etc., I work with girls at Avalon who often have suffered abuse and trauma. It’s all felt to me like the world is falling apart and even sometimes either that Heavenly Father doesn’t care or that his plan for us on earth is a big fail! Along with my hopelessness and sadness, I could feel my faith in His goodness and mercy failing too. I decided to start reading my scriptures in a different way. I’ve ben highlighting attributes and characteristics of Heavenly Father and Jesus that are demonstrated or written in the scriptures. Words like merciful, keeper of promises, healer, guide, long-suffering, gentle and kind are everywhere in my reading. This has helped me to rebuild my faith in Them, and to remember that even though things are really hard for many people, that They are perfect beings full of love and concern for us, and that through the power of the Atonement, They will make everything right, even though I don’t understand how it will happen. I’m grateful for that knowledge.
