The Reverend Peter Carey is the Rector of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Cathedral Road, Philadelphia. From a very young age, Peter has recognized God’s grace in our lives and has strived to share God’s love in word and deed. Before entering ordained ministry, Peter worked for over 15 years as an educator, teacher, and coach in several Independent Schools. As a life-long learner, Peter encourages curiosity, creativity, and compassion in those he teaches and pastors.
Peter holds two master’s degrees and has taught history, humanities, and religious studies to students ages 10-18. He also has coached lacrosse and soccer for over three decades at every level. He has served the Diocese of Pennsylvania on the Dean’s Council, the Diocesan Council, and the LGBTQ+ Committee, the Finance Committee and Nominations Committee. An avid cyclist and runner, Peter loves to spend time in nature both in solitude and with family and friends.
