- I have compiled a list of open problems related to copositivity (and complete positivity) which is available here.
- I received the Educational Prize (Teacher of the Year) 2017/2018 from S.A. Astatine (the study association of Advanced Technology and Nanotechnology at the University of Twente).
- A few years ago I started a poll on what notation should be used for the copositive and completely positive cones. This poll is still open at http://tinyurl.com/copositivenotation, and currently (as of 31/10/2017) by far the most popular notation is COP (\mathcal{COP}) for the copositive cone and CP (\mathcal{CP}) for the completely positive cone.
- I have now started a new poll on what notation should be used for the doubly nonnegative cone and its dual, which is available at https://tinyurl.com/doublynonneg.
Short biography
I was born in London in 1985, however I grew up mainly in Croxley Green, which is in a beautiful area on the outskirts of London. As an undergraduate I studied at Queens' College, University of Cambridge, where I received an MSc in Natural Sciences in 2007. After this I spent about nine months travelling around Australia, working primarily in bars and as a scuba diver. During this time I met the woman who is now my wife and mother to my child, Renske Bosman. From May 2009 until April 2013 I studied as a PhD student in Mathematics at the University of Groningen, with the Systems, Control and Applied Analysis Research Programme. My supervisor during this was Prof. Dr. Mirjam Dür. I defended my PhD thesis on Friday 12th April 2013, receiving a cum laude distinction. This distinction is only awarded to the top 5% of PhD theses. From May 2013 until February 2014 I had a Post Doc position at the University of Vienna, with Prof. Dr. Immanuel Bomze as my mentor. From April 2014 until July 2018 I was an Assistant Professor at the University of Twente.
