Dr. Ramesh Perla

Dr. Perla Ramesh is working in the field of Synthetic Organic Chemistry, Biotransformations, Medicinal chemistry, and the Development of new methods including C-H activation in organic synthesis. He has successfully completed total synthesis of several bioactive natural products, such as Pectinolide H, 4'-epi-pectinolide H, Cryptomoscatone D1, D2, E1, F1, (5R,7S)-Kurzilactone, 8-Methoxygoniodiol, (3R,5R)-1-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-7-phenylheptane-3,5-diol, Cryptorigidifoliol B, (+)-Goniodiol, (6S,7S,8S)-Goniodiol, (-)-Parvistone D, (+)-Parvistone E, Parvistone A, B, 8-Chlorogoniodiol, Goniothalesdiol A, DAB-1 and Sphingolipids. He has developed new synthetic methodologies which are simple but effective to obtain enantiomerically pure chiral intermediates. His work explores in detail the various approaches to the problem which include substrate modification, chemical modification of the enzyme and enzyme immobilization.
