You start with the menstrual cycle (your period, when the lining of your uterus sheds), followed by the follicular phase (when the follicles in your ovaries mature and get ready for the prime time: ovulation), then comes ovulation (when the egg is released), followed finally by the luteal phase (when the egg makes its way down your fallopian tubes and gets ready to bleed). Knowing this, you can track your period and your cycle.

Simply input the length of your average period and the length of your last period, and let the period calculator do the rest. If you have no idea how long between your periods, make a note the next time it starts and when it ends so you have it on hand for next month.

You can also use a period tracker for way more than just predicting bleed week. Since ovulation usually occurs on the 14th day of your cycle (with Day 1 of your cycle being the first day you bleed), you can also learn and track peak ovulation.

The menstrual cycle is a series of changes that occur in a woman's body as part of the preparation for the possibility of pregnancy occurring. It is a cycle that usually begins between 12 and 15 years of age that continues up until menopause, which, on average, occurs at the age of 52. The menstrual cycle is typically counted from the first day of one period to the first day of the next. It is controlled by the rise and fall of hormones. The length of a woman's menstrual cycle varies. A regular menstrual cycle is considered to be a menstrual cycle where the longest and shortest cycles vary by less than 8 days. The average menstrual cycle lasts 28 days.

As part of the menstrual cycle, the lining of the uterus thickens, and an egg, which is required for pregnancy to occur, is produced. The egg is released from the ovaries in a process called ovulation, which corresponds with the time during which a woman is most fertile (~5 days before ovulation, up through 1-2 days after ovulation). If the egg is not fertilized, pregnancy cannot happen, and the lining of the uterus will shed during a menstrual period, after which the cycle restarts.

A period, a commonly used term for referring to menstruation, is a woman's regular discharge of blood and mucosal tissue that occurs as part of the menstrual cycle. Bleeding and discharge of the mucosal lining of the uterus, through the vagina, usually lasts between 2 and 7 days. It occurs in the early phases of the menstrual cycle, referred to as the menstrual phase, which begins when the egg from a previous cycle is not fertilized. Periods stop during pregnancy, and typically do not resume during the early stages of breastfeeding. Periods also eventually stop permanently during menopause, usually between the ages of 49 and 52, and can be defined as having no vaginal bleeding for a year.

The Period Calculator estimates period days and the most probable ovulation days in calendar form. Period days are the days during which bleeding and discharge occur. The most probable ovulation days are the days during which a woman is most likely to ovulate.

You can track your menstrual cycle in the Health app on your iPhone or the Cycle Tracking app on your Apple Watch. And you can turn on notifications to tell you when your next period or fertile window is approaching.

Predictions begin after you enter your last period in the Cycle Tracking app and are based on logged data. If you log a period before it's predicted to begin, you won't get a period prediction notification for that cycle. Notifications appear on your Apple Watch and iPhone, depending on what you're using.

Currently my wife and I use a shared calendar to approximate when her next cycle will occur. We have the event repeating in the calendar every 28 days as a baseline and each time her cycle occurs we adjustment the calendar event if necessary (example move it forward or back X days depending on when that cycle started) so that we know approximately when the next cycle will occur and will be reminded via the calendars alert feature a few days before. This can be used to track fertility or periods of optimal sexual activity or other...

Two days after installing latest update (3.43.1), the period tracker quit working *again*. If I tried to log details, button would highlight but app froze (first pic); after quitting/restarting phone, could log details for current day but not previous days; after logging out/turning off bluetooth/restarting phone/turning on bluetooth/logging back into app, not only does attempting to log details freeze app, but *all my period info is now gone* (second pic). So hey, y'all, don't do the steps listed above as a troubleshoot 'cause they make everything even worse.

As soon as Roe v. Wade was overturned on Friday, June 24, calls for people to delete their period-tracking apps were all over social media. These apps gather extremely personal data that could pinpoint a missed period. The fear is that in the hands of law enforcement, this data could be used to bolster a criminal case against a person who attempts to get an abortion in a state where it is restricted or banned.

The overturning of Roe v. Wade in the US triggered laws that made abortion illegal in 13 states, and more states are likely to ban abortion in the coming months. In states that have banned abortions, people could now be prosecuted if they are alleged to have had one. The worry is that their digital data footprint could be used to build such a case. Missing your period is not a crime, but evidence of it could be subpoenaed and used to bolster a case against someone suspected of an abortion.

2. Use a digital calendar. If spreadsheets make you dizzy and your entire life is on a digital calendar already, try making your period a recurring event, suggests Emory University student Alexa Mohsenzadeh, who made a TikTok video demonstrating the process.

In the wake of the Supreme Court's decision Friday to overturn Roe v. Wade, privacy experts are increasingly concerned about how data collected from period-tracking apps, among other applications, could potentially be used to penalize anyone seeking or considering an abortion.

Millions of people use apps to help track their menstrual cycles. Flo, which bills itself as the most popular period and cycle tracking app, has amassed 43 million active users. Another app, Clue, claims 12 million monthly active users.

The personal health data stored in these apps is among the most intimate types of information a person can share. And it can also be telling. The apps can show when their period stops and starts and when a pregnancy stops and starts.

Evan Greer, director of the digital rights advocacy group Fight for the Future, says period apps aren't the only ways technology can be used to connect someone to an abortion. If someone is sitting in the waiting room of a clinic that offers abortion services and is playing a game on their phone, that app might be collecting location data, she says.

Last year, the Federal Trade Commission reached a settlement with the popular fertility and period-tracking app amid allegations that it misled users about the disclosure of their personal health data. The settlement followed a 2019 Wall Street Journal investigation that found the app informed Facebook when a user was having their period or if they informed the app that they intended to get pregnant. ff782bc1db
