PERCEPTUAL CUES IN MATHEMATICS LEARNING

Perceptual Cues in Mathematics Learning is a research project funded by the EDU Core Research (ECR) program. The project aims to implement two experimental studies that investigate whether and how congruent and incongruent perceptual cues within math notation influence middle school students’ order-of-operations learning, and to understand how perceptual cues create desirable difficulties, or productive struggles, in mathematics practice. We will work with 6th-grade teachers and students during SY 2023-2024 and SY 2024-2025! This website provides information for you about the research study, the evidence-backed technologies used, and the benefits for your teachers and students.

For teachers who would like to participate, learn more about the project by clicking here!

If you would like to collaborate, we would love to hear from you! Contact our research team at perceptualcues@gmail.com.

The project is conducted by a collaborative team of scientists from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Virginia Tech, and Purdue University.
