That Happened Here?! is a fun and engaging children’s book that takes young readers on an exciting journey through Black History in Pensacola. Filled with fascinating people, places, and moments, this kid-friendly guide helps children learn that powerful history happened right in their own community—encouraging pride, curiosity, and a love for learning.

Meet the Authors
Sharon Gaston, EdD; Bridgette Price, MA; and Vincent Wiggins, EdD are lifelong friends and proud members of the first graduating class from the current location of Booker T. Washington High School in Pensacola. Growing up together in the community shaped their love for their hometown and the people who helped define it. United by a shared passion for youth empowerment and education, they created this project to highlight the rich history of Pensacola and showcase the many “gems” that make the city special. Through the stories, places, and trailblazers they admire, they hope to inspire young people to discover their own greatness—and use Pensacola’s legacy as motivation to achieve their personal goals.
